Google Plus joins Ping, Groove Music, and Clippy in the graveyard of failed services
It might be annoying for people that are heavily invested in a service if it gets shut down but the alternative is Google only launching services that they are 100% sure will be successful. Waymo could change the world, be a total flop, or even vapourware but the world will likely be better for all of Google's investment. Google Plus never got off the ground but combined with Picasa, it spun out Photos, which has hundreds of millions of users. Personally, I still use Picasa even though it's no longer supported. Google has some solid services like Maps, Photos, Gmail, Assistant, YouTube, some ok ones like Music and then some that are a total mess, like any messaging/collaboration service they've ever made besides Gmail and Inbox (which they're dropping). But their willingness to throw things at the wall forces companies like Apple to work harder so the consumer ends up winning. It's easy to make fun of them but there's room for more than one approach. -
FBI makes suspect unlock iPhone X in first confirmed instance of forced Face ID

This wasn't some case of them stopping a random guy on the street and looking for something to charge him with. Nor is it mass surveillance. Nor did they ask Apple for a risky backdoor. They had grounds for search. They searched. Where is your problem with this?

Samsung's foldable smartphone tipped for November unveiling
I don't think Samsung expect this to be a mass market device. They'll price it high, make limited quantities and attract people that accept that it is a 1.0 device. Eventually, like the edge display, it'll become a useful part of a future phone. Samsung aren't Apple - for starters they are happy to throw things at the wall and second they are a component manufacturer and realise they need to put new, untested tech out in the wild before their component buyers are willing to do the same. -

Makes no sense! And 30% is way too much!
