Presumably patents had already been applied for this, so the paper presented wouldn't constitute the ceding of a competitive advantage.

On occasion, when Apple screws up this should be seen as a clear opportunity for their competition.
Actually, since Apple can't make the numbers work anymore they should permit a flood of licensed products fill the gap. Give licensed 3rd parties a crack and collect the "free" revenue to boot.
Perhaps they should also license MacOS.
why does anyone bother with working to make "expensive" money when they could make "free" money by following your advice?

There has yet to be a compelling Apple Watch upgrade for Series 0 owners. Seems insane to not come out with a model with a faster chip, better battery life, improved taptic engine. It is an iPhone accessory. Why not have a new Apple Watch to purchase alongside new iPhones? Why not have a new Apple Watch which makes for a good holiday gift?
If no Series 3 this year, vast missed opportunity. I don't think Apple would do that.
