The choice between working with Nilay Patel and an anonymous death lead to the expected result. Good choice, Walt :-)
    LOLOLOLOLOLOOLOL!

Its TRUE!  Walt's article began to get really low quality once he went to the Verge.

He even said the Note7 was better than any iPhone!

Nilay Patel is a real certified moron. Still puzzles me how he got that job.
Patel and Josh Whats-his-name got into a power struggle, which led to Vox management siding with Patel & Josh leaving. I remember reading about the conflicts from the writers who worked there and I remember a flight of writers soon after Patel took over. He's a huge jerk.

EDIT: Joshua Topolsky was the name I couldn't remember.

  • All-new Mac Pro with modular design, Apple-branded pro displays coming in 2018

    Interesting comments here:
So Apple’s path will not lead them down the direction of touch Mac screens, as they’ve stated. Instead, Federighi suggests that making the iPad Pro, which they feel has a better drawing experience, work better with the Mac is the answer.

“We recognize customers often [use both] — we all certainly use both — so we’re really focused on making them work well together,” he says.
“Because we think in many tasks, that’s actually the best solution. So all of our customers should feel free to buy multiple products,” he jokes, laughing. “We encourage that.”

Perhaps the use of iPad and/or iPhone as external surfaces to compliment the Mac experience is forthcoming after all.

A reminder that any documents you want to remain secure and away from prying eyes should not be locked using Touch ID only.
Can you please explain? Why is Touch ID not sufficient? Thanks.

I would guess that it's because of the grey area around whether the police can require you to unlock Touch ID without a warrant. Or that you can even be physically coerced into unlocking Touch ID. (Although I doubt many people have to worry about someone grabbing their thumb and forcing it onto the sensor.)

Aside from the legal issues, Touch ID is pretty secure. Whether you need to worry about law enforcement access, or someone using coercion of some sort is for you to decide.

Actually it isn't a legal gray area. Recent rulings have made it crystal clear that a person cannot prevent an unlock of a device using their fingerprint if so ordered by law enforcement. One cannot be compelled to provide a password/passcode to unlock a device. It's the differnce between having something on you (your finger) versus your private thoughts. I suppose if a person had their password written down somewhere that could be collected and used properly and legally.

  • Apple says 'many' exploits revealed in CIA leak already patched in latest iOS version

I think Apple's resistance to the FBI's backdooring demands in the San Bernardino terror case will serve them well in this scandal.

In light of this information about serious intelligence agency malfeasance they were right to take the high moral stance.  The government can't be trusted not to create and foster exploits, much less maintain security on their secret hacking methods and personnel.

I really hope there has been no collusion between Apple and this illegal CIA hacking group.
Reminds of the fact that Michael Bromwich was forced on Apple by the Feds to snoop around, post-Amazon e-book trial. Who can really say definitively what the hell he was doing at Apple? He could've been reporting back to any number of three-letter agencies.
