This guys notes get more ridiculous every day. Just a bunch of gibberish. Where is the customer sentiment for 3D sensing? Most consumers haven’t used Face ID yet and AR is in its infancy. Nobody knows yet if this is going to be the next big thing everyone has to have. 

He and most everyone else who saw the keynote (consumers and OEMs) are predicting FaceID (instant secure unlock) and the technology that enables it, will be a commercial success. As Steve Jobs said “skate to where the puck is going.” You’re going to bust his balls for pointing this out, when we’re all assuming this to be the case? That’s ridiculous.

What I took from the article that he guessed and sometimes he got lucky. That's pretty much the same for most analysts. 

Right up until last week he was still uhming and aahing over TouchID

Guessed on screen size, facial recognition, price... yeah, that seems plausible. Also, as I recall he was one of the first to say Touch ID was likely not present. Outside of massive software leaks, he’s by far the most accurate and consistent source out there. 

I’ve been wondering how they would handle colors. Gold and rose gold look nice on a flat aluminum finish, but perhaps less so on a glossy glass. At least that’s been my experience having seen other maker attempts at this. We’ll see what they do, but I’m hopeful for a nice gloss black or gloss white - with black front borders to cover camera and IR sensors. 

I think the front is more suspect. I have a hard time believing Apple would offer a white front given the prominence of the camera and IR sensors, let alone the notch. Everything Apple pro on YouTube has a nice mock-up of a white iPhone that includes black notch and bezel, with white frame and back glass. Full stormtrooper. I’d buy that phone.

I like this approach, timing release of a mid-tier phone in Spring. Between that and the expanded iPhone lines (presuming 7s, 7s Plus, Pro this Fall), Apple is keeping things fresh, sales steady.
