  • Four more states are jumping onto the DOJ's antitrust suit against Apple

Have you ever wondered why Apple's Pages app is so limited in functionality.  Functionality that it use to have has been taken out.  From what I've read and been told, this likely due to being asked to make is less capable so as to not compete with Microsoft's Word.  This sounds highly likely to me.

As to the functionality that has been removed, try replacing tabs or carriage returns.  There use to be an Advanced option in the Find & Replace window but that has been eliminated as well.  I keep an old version of Pages running on my 12 year old Mac Pro tower because the older version of Pages is MUCH more powerful than the current one.

The Feds want to hurt Apple because they don't like that it supports privacy and security.  They really don't like that we can Message each other with end-to-end encryption.  And that they can't decode some of the things stored on iCloud.

  • Don't buy the 'Make Something Wonderful' Steve Jobs book on eBay, because the book is free...

I downloaded the EPUB file and have started reading it.  I've enjoyed Steve's words in the part i've read, but I think someone really blew it on some of the explanatory text.  There are some definite errors in those parts!

In Part 1, 1976-1985, the description of the Apple ][ in the second paragraph is just flat out incorrect.  The Apple ][ certainly did not have, as implied, built in cassette storage or, as stated, a built in color screen!  I bought one in 1979 and while I don't have that one anymore, I do have another Apple ][ in my storage room.  It had an audio output and input that you could connect to a tape deck, reel-to-reel or cassette, for storage but it was very slow and awkward to work with.  It also had a video out that you could feed to a separately purchased little box that would convert it to an RF feed that you could connect to a TV (B&W or color) for use as a 40 character by. I believe, 24 line display.  Apple did sell some monochrome green CRT monitors.  I have an Apple /// monitor on another shelf.  When it came out 5 years later, the Macintosh didn't have a built-in color screen either!

  • FBI considered using Pegasus spyware for US domestic surveillance

So the FBI secretly bought an iPhone spying tool using taxpayer money in 2019. Anyone think they still DON'T use it? The FBI's charter only deals with domestic activities. The CIA deals with non-domestic and the NSA does whatever they feel like doing. Once the FBI purchased Pegasus, all the other government agencies had access to it. I'm sure there's a way to "share" this software and I have no doubt it was used many times, and probably continues to be used.

Let's add all the government officials who are pushing to force Apple to open up its App Store along with China forcing athletes to load the "official" Olympics app. Both of these can force backdoors into a person's iPhone. Since governments can't figure out how to spy on iPhone users any other way, they are pushing, the case of the US,  Congress and state's AGs to do the dirty work for them. Force Apple to open up the App Store for side loading and make them lose money by allowing third-party payment systems, something no other retailer allows.

Domestic terrorists now pose a greater threat to the U.S. than do foreign terrorists.
The FBI is our primary protection from them.  I'm fine with them doing what they have to do to protect us from dangerous screwballs with an agenda.
Domestic terrorists?  You mean like Antifa and the others who were rioting and burning down portions of our cities?  The ones destroying a lot of black and minority owned businesses?
