  • MacBook Air M3 review three months later: The best Mac for nearly everyone

I bought a 13" M2 MBA last year, and it has rapidly become one of my all-time favorites due to its light weight, robust design, and overall performance. Prior to this, I had a variety of iPads, beginning with the original and graduating up to iPad Pros, but I got tired of not having the flexibility of using MacOS and using the Magic Keyboard (that kept getting rips in the exterior material at the hinge line) and developing problems connecting to the iPad. The feel of the display hinge on the MBA is just amazing--buttery smooth and better than any hinge I've ever used.

    Say it: I’m in love.

I have one, and it’s the best I ever had. Typing is excellent, and all the rest too, sound, screen, camera. Battery is unbelievable. It’s a bit heavy, I still keep a MacBook 12” around for travel, but for the rest: it’s a beast. The color is nice to, midnight blue… I’m in love. I use an iPad Pro as a second screen next to it. I’m in love.

  • Apple Intelligence impresses now, and it's still very early

    1. software or hardware that has been advertised but is not yet available to buy, either because it is only a concept or because it is still being written or designed.

I don't believe we're back to the days of Copland - the macOS that never shipped. At least Apple paid hotel+flights for me to attend a demo.
These days most products do ship with AirPower being one that only made it to a keynote.

But shipping outside US are where things get ugly. Apple is active in 175 countries. iPhone 14 got satellite SOS. 2 years later and 16 countries (9%) are covered. In most of the world customers pay for hardware that does nothing.

Look at this mess of a KB-post on availability of services: https://support.apple.com/en-us/118205

Google Gemini is available in 150 countries supporting around 30 languages. MS Azure AI is doing 143 combinations.
Apple Intelligence is scheduled for "en-us" and that is it. Apple Intelligence is mainly FUD to those of us not running on en-us.

i must agree on this. Only recently bike-routes have come available  in the Netherlands in Cards. All this wonderful stuff will slowly come available to other countries and other languages. I can’t wait.

  • Arizona TSMC facility continues to fight cultural battles, rising costs & logistical hurdl...

There's a reason manufacturing of semiconductors and other goods have moved to Asia. There are way more engineers available in Asia; these are needed in large numbers to run a modern factory. Engineers in Asia work longer hours without complaint, so no surprise TSMC is finding American engineers difficult to work with.
A few years ago I saw the documentary ‘American Factory’ about a Chinese organization trying to start a car glass factory in America. Without judgement the filmmakers showed the huge culture clash that happened. Beautiful movie, and the unavoidable  bafflement from both sides carefully shown. Can’t help thinking this is the same dynamics.
