  • The history -- and triumph -- of Arm and Apple Silicon

I've been an iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch guy for nearly two decades, but never made the transition with general computing.  On a whim, I picked up a MacBook Pro with M2 last month on a great deal.  Despite the learning curve and the need to customize a few options to better suit my tastes, I'm extremely impressed with how well the M2 functions, whether in responsiveness, energy efficiency, or general lack of fan noise.  My Intel-based laptops are obnoxiously loud under even medium load, which leaves a psychological impression that they are inefficient or just poorly balanced.  What really impressed me is the GPU performance... for an "integrated" graphics solution, the M2 is leagues above the Intel Integrated Graphics that I've had to deal with.  Even better, I purchased a Parallels license to get over any Windows "separation anxiety" as a first-timer, and it runs the OS and software better than my relatively new i7 machine.

Granted, the 24 GB of embedded RAM probably doesn't hurt things, but my initial impressions are very positive.
I’m running a M2 MacBook Air with Parallels and Windows and but 8 Gb. And even then it runs silent and fast. Amazing.

I really hope they separate the scanning capability from Notes.
It really should be part of Camera. Open camera app, select scan, take pic (scan). Ask me what to do with it (like a screenshot does). Message, email, save to Photos or Files, save as Note etc.
I often need to send PDF scans of documents. I never need to save them as a note.
Using this feature as a part of Notes adds a lot of unnecessary steps and time to the process, including deleting the unnecessary note I just created.
    There's an app for that!

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/simple-scan-quick-scanner/id6477965455

And it's $20. I know there are scanning apps out there. Was glad to delete the one I was using for native functionality. No reason Apple couldn't or shouldn't do their own better too.
    And what about Genius scan?

  • Apple says the iPhone 15 battery is more durable than it originally thought

I made the 80% battery max with Automate and an intelligent plug on my iPhone 14. But I truly don’t understand, as this is a simple software addition, why Apple doesn’t add this to all recent phones.

Dear AppleInsider, could you, if you write about temperature, put the Celsius in brackets after the Fahrenheit? AppleInsider is read in Europe as well.

Why only the iPhone 12? Why not all the others too?
