There are quite a few oximeter patents out there (see patents.justia.com). Patents turn on very specific implementations. 

Lot of prior art out there so one has to "thread a needle" to stay out of trouble patent-wise. 

Most professionals work from home -- that's what we do after we come home from the office. You need to be at the office to see clients, and collaborate with colleagues. The "water-cooler" is often the best place to sync with others.

The biggest problem with the office is getting there and back. For most, the commute is the bane of office work.

In US courts, the lawyers prosecute the case, and are obligated to inform the judge of legal precedents, and to therefore give opposing counsel the ability to respond. Of course, the court, sua sponte, can cite law not brought up by counsel, but it's usually poor form. 

In the UK, the Courts are more active. 

The harms caused by Facebook, Google, maybe Apple, Intel, etc, such as they exist, need to be addressed outside the principles of monopoly. The proposed laws making their way through Congress are misguided for the same reasons. 

The EU is also suffering from the same illusions. 

Nassim Nickolas Taleb of Black Swan fame and other books, has a paper out "Bitcoin, Currencies, and Bubbles" which argues BTC has the exact value of 0.
