Judge rules Tim Cook must sit through seven-hour 'Fortnite' deposition
loopless said:I have been deposed and have endured a 10 hour deposition. It’s a nightmare for even the best prepared. You are questioned relentlessly by the opposing counsel. I can understand how people crack under the pressure of interrogation.
I'm sure with Fortnite, the deposition is going to be adversarial, and very confrontational. One can also be sure, Apple is going to depose Fortnite leaders, and treat these people with equal aggression.
Apple will also get the Samsung data they want during deposition and discovery. Just because Apple can't get Samsung info directly from Samsung, does not mean they will not be able to get that information from Fortnite. -
Notes of interest from Apple's Q1 2021 earnings report and conference call
Before Tim, us stockholders didn't receive any dividends. We bought based upon the expected value of the company, which would be reflected in their stock price.
That proved to be correct.
As for the dividends, it ain't that much for us small timers. Keeps us in coffee and a sweet roll, but that's about it. -
Apple denied COVID app to secure contact tracing monopoly, lawsuit claims
Seem Apple made it clear that such covid apps must be approved (maybe even sponsored?) by government or reputable health care providers.
Obviously, they needed to market this app to government and health care entities so their app would be approved by Apple. They didn't do that, so I don't se how they have a case.
It's not like a government or health care entities write these apps themselves -- they contract out or buy a private company's app to promote. Their first customer needed to be a government or healthcare entity. -
Sideloading iPad & iPhone apps is back on Apple Silicon Macs, but probably not for long
sdw2001 said:This may only be a temporary state, as there is some incentive on Apple's side to reinstate the blocks and to force users to download Mac App Store-sanctioned versions instead of the mobile-designed editions.Such as? And I don't know....I find Apple's approach unsettling here. If you have a machine capable of running mobile apps, and those apps are already approved for the mobile device (they are), why the need to control their distribution through the Mac App store? Could there be some legitimate security or technical/performance concerns? Or, is what I think it is...Apple demanding total authority to decide what runs on Macs? Even that doesn't make much sense, as users can install Mac software outside the App store constraints. The only legitimate reason I can think of is Apple is concerned about jailbroken phones (difficult to do these days, I hear) side-loading apps.

Apple Car US production reportedly assigned to Hyundai subsidiary Kia
I know nothing about Kia.
So a quick scan of Kia website was in order. I can't image Apple producing a car that was not at least a Hybrid. If it's to be made in Georgia, that's only the Sorento, if a commenter above is correct.
The only other such vehicles is the Niro brand: Niro EV, Niro plug-in Hybrid, and the plain Niro Hybrid. Where are these made?
