  • The new Mac mini is a great machine, but a $499 model could serve a larger audience

I seriously disagree with this. I hope Apple never compromises on the Mac again. The $800 Mac Mini is an excellent machine. The $200-400 is served by the iPad. Btw the iPad has the NVME storage that is in the Mac Mini.
It doesn't matter that the new Mac Mini is an excellent machine. People are looking for the right machine for the right price.

Consider writing an RFP. I can't imagine an Apple Mac mini ever being the appropriate choice, unless Apple would respond with a Mac Mini at half the cost it is currently pricing it at for a 128GB version.

  • Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen dies at 65

I read he claimed to creating a two button mouse, I think Steve stole the idea Xerox and they had a two button mouse, but Steve knew it could be done with one button. What an accomplishment.
The mouse was invented by Douglas Engelbart. In 1984, I had the pleasure, with about ten others, of having lunch with him in Toronto. When he first created the mouse, it had only two buttons. By the time of his “Mother of all Demos”, his mouse had three buttons. We asked him “why two or three”. He said, he would have had more, but he could only fit two, then only three, of the bulky potentiometers into his mouse box.

  • Apple records first-ever accident in self-driving car program [u]

You don't merge at 1 MPH. You merge at the speed of the traffic you are joining.

Unless you are an old lady who never has merged before. Then you cause accidents.
If you rear-end someone, you're always at fault. You don't rear-end grandma just because she's going too slow for you.

  • Nearly half of iPhone owners plan to upgrade, survey says

Are there any numbers for how many, what percentage, of iPhone owners use the iPhone Upgrade Option? That would give a floor on the yearly upgrades.

  • Apple forecast to hit 41.6M iPhones as product becomes 'stable business'

Trump's trade war with the world means nobody's financial forecasts can be taken seriously, including Apple's.
How was it any different comparing to "before the war" time?
It's different because tit-for-tat tariffs cannot be predicted. Tariffs have immediate impact, and are meant to do so, and they're meant to immediately damage. No company, including Apple, can predict with any confidence what the next quarter will be -- there are no trends.
