Mark Zuckerberg claims Apple's App Store charges 'monopoly rents,' stifles innovation
Facebook’s ability to target specific people was one of the major reasons Trump was able to target idiots with cynical messages that would appeal to them (which also weren’t true) in 2016. So in some ways, you could say that Facebook is in large part responsible for Covid spreading not just in the US but around the world.Kinda makes the protections in iOS 14 sound like a great idea. -

Intel promises to support two-year transition to Apple Silicon
I wonder whether or not we’ll see Apple get back into the server business. Either way I think they’ll release a version of the Mac mini (hopefully with a silver option) that destroys Intel’s NUC line and allows early adopters to dip their toes in without ponying you for the expensive machines (like they did when they went Intel) then I suspect the MacBook line will follow, either with the Air or the Air and the Pro. Then the iMac, and then the Mac Pro and iMac Pro (assuming the iMac Pro continues to be a line.) -

Apple still mulling services bundle, iOS 13.5.5 code suggests
I pay for the yearly subscription for Apple Music, currently have TV+ free. Sometimes I feel like I’d like News+ but most of it would be neo-liberal garbage. I’d like to have arcade but nothing pulled me in during my free trial. I have 200 gigs of iCloud.I feel like a TV, iCloud and arcade bundle would be easy to negotiate for them. News and Music make things messier. News would be a straight up cash gift to publishers. I’d honestly sooner be interested in a service that gave you credits to books than I would be in News.
