  • Apple unveils new iPad Pro with 3D scanner, trackpad support

I ordered it mostly because I'm quarantined and I've been waiting since the 2018 model launched. Realistically I should have bought one of those to replace my aging 9.7 inch Pro, but my job situation was hazy back then so I held off hoping to upgrade last fall. But then nothing came out last fall. I'm hoping these have more RAM than the previous models and I'm hoping the A12Z is beefier than the A12X. I just wish they had some comparisons to show how much of an internal upgrade it is. I really couldn't give a damn about the camera or the lidar.

I think I might actually upgrade from the Apple TV 4K if a new one comes out, not because I need a new one, but because we have another TV we could put an Apple TV on and then I could get the new shiny one! The iPad Pro is definitely a buy, I just really hope that they go with an A14 processor instead of an A13.

  • New iMac and Mac mini coming soon, says leaker

I'm mostly hoping for a new A14 iPad Pro. More than anything I need one with more RAM. Hopefully at least 6 gigs, mostly need it for Procreate and other graphics apps... but especially Procreate.

It would be nice to see Apple continue supporting the iMac and Mac mini though. They're important computers that serve markets that their portables don't, and I hate to see them let them languish.

Well this story alone makes the feature worth it.

These days, I would consider a monitor with “ultra high” resolution to be much higher than the 5k of the iMac, which has had that Rez for quite some time. The 4K Rez of this monitor isn’t anything near ultra high. I don’t know why that term was used. Even the 6k of the new Apple pro monitor doesn’t qualify as being ultra high. With 8k Tvs coming out now, even that barely qualifies these days.

the price is good enough for what it is. Not sure it qualifies to be equivalent to the real pro monitors out there though. They’re about 50% more, and up
UHD is a term that the industry coined for this resolution, similar to how 1080p is High Definition.
