Apple's AirPower charging mat may not be cancelled after all
On the one hand this would be really cool to own. On the other hand, I already bought a bunch of cheap qi chargers. (Though unfortunately they have stupid LEDs in them that are blinding and seem to be locked away inside a device that’s glued together so I can’t tape them over.
This is is a cool accessory and maybe after I have AirPods with the wireless case and after they add iPad support it might be worth it.
For it now though, I think there isn’t much that this can do that a few cheaper chargers can’t do. -
Crime blotter: California arrests, a Monster firing, and bulk thefts of new iPhones
Honestly especially with eSIM Apple should look at making sure the devices keep a persistent connection until flashed with the proper version of iOS. They should be unable to be powered off, and as soon as an employee tells the system that they've been stolen they should start giving out as grating of a sound as possible! They should also broadcast their GPS location. It's not as if the devices should be able to disable their eSIM.

Apple exec Eddy Cue 'overextended,' falling asleep in meetings
I get that sense that Eddy is really good at negotiating and getting people on his side. I think if he's got a vision for something he's probably really good at gathering a team of people to work around him and accomplish things. My guess is he's probably bad at saying no to Tim when it comes to being asked to head something up. Either that or he thinks he should be in charge of things when he shouldn't and is good at getting people to trust him with them. From everything I've heard his big achievements have mostly been related to content negotiations. So why not just have him in charge of that stuff? What do you need to negotiate to make iCloud work? A good deal for Google to host your back end? Meh. I wouldn't be surprised if they just have a pool of other managers who really are running their divisions who just report to Eddy when they need to.
