The EU is betraying iPhone users and weakening privacy for political gain
On the iPhone, when you save email drafts such as web article links you want to share with others at a later time, it gets saved to the Mail app's Drafts folder on your iPhone. It does not seem to get synched to the Drafts folder on my Mac. So iPhone Mirroring is a very useful app for me. I can find all the saved email drafts on my Mac and finish the email there. It's too bad EU users will not get iPhone Mirroring. -
EU might fine Apple for failure to comply with DMA, for real this time
"the report fails to state exactly how Apple isn't complying with the law and what is drawing the potential fine in November."
# Seems like Ms. Vestager does not want to even tell Apple how to avoid the fine because she just want the fine paid first then she will let them know. Courts should have something to say about that. -
India moves to restrict imports of Apple's MacBook Pro
After the Israeli pager stunt countries will have another reason to request tech supply chains to be diversified out of China. However, a good point from this may be that continued diversification of supply chains to India, Mexico, etc. does allow U.S. to have countries bid for manufacturing contracts. This keeps their margins lower, and also puts US with leverage to have them sign more balanced trade deals in return.
Dealing with a supply chain monopolist like China has only meant ever-increasing trade deficit with U.S. debt. rising to record trillions of dollars. No one really knows how long this can go on with interest on national debt getting larger yearly. Supply chains need to be moved out of China in while balanced trade is negotiated in return.
Hopefully the realignment of supply chains will continue gradually, not like what Trump is suggesting with a sudden 100 to 200% increase in tariffs. The US consumer would pick up the tab on the resulting sudden inflation. A major recession would probably follow suit. It may be better to continue with slow but steady stick and carrot approach encouraging diversification of manufacturing coupled with renegotiation of trade deals from these other countries. They would have incentive then to compete for contracts and bargain in good faith to negotiate equal sided trade deals. -
