I tried using a Windows phone and actually used it as my main driver (Nokia 1520) for over a year. It wasn't a bad experience. The problem was the lack of apps and basically offering everything iOS offers in a much rougher, clunkier form. M$ was basically throwing money at developers and IT support managers but even that couldn't convince me to stick with it, recommend it or deploy it.

Switching back was pure joy.

My upgrade from the 6 to the 8 will be an amazing increase in functionality. I must try and work out exactly what I am getting ( a cpu and gpu that are miles ahead). 

My brother has been using an iphone 6 since launch and he is picking up his new iphone 8 this Friday. The slightly smaller form factor while being a massive upgrade from every angle (that A11 is beastly)  is his reason. The plus line and now X are just too big. I prefer the plus and use a 7+. I will be skipping this upgrade cycle since the 8 plus isn't enough of a reason and I'll wait till they work out the kinks on the X and see what Apple has to offer next year.

I really truly wish Apple would stop their relationship with AMD and go back to Nvidia. It's caused us so many issues (at a college) because all the Adobe apps render much slower without Cuda. They've asked us to pull 5 year old machines out and redeploy them just to have nvidia graphics back, just for the hardware acceleration. CUDA is immensely valuable, but hey, lets just throw irrelevant AMD chipsets at it.

The beauty of an eGPU is you can use an Nvidia card along with Nvidia's web drivers.
