  • Hands on: The 2019 MacBook Air is a bargain, but SSD speeds fall

Why didn’t Apple just make the original retina Air so it could come in at $999 price point and then just update it with new processors when available. If it had this SSD to begin with nobody would have cared.

  • Apple spent nearly $15M per episode on Apple TV+ show 'See,' report says

There was a time when Netflix was a rental DVD service, so I don't underestimate the ability for new comers in this territory to make a big impact. Similarly heavyweights such as Disney are likely to have a natural niche due to their utterly massive license portfolio.

I am really curious to see how it all goes, because the monthly service fees of each aren't sustainable for many buyers. Apple are well positioned since they can sweeten their bundle with Arcade, News+ and Music, which could help address an audience wider than their typical market of people with high disposable income.

On the flipside, this does not look good for Spotify.
I think they underestimate Apple’s ability to see trends and find the profit point. Apple realized that the big content companies like Disney and HBO would be starting their own services making the real value of being a Netflix greatly diminished. Why pay for Netflix if it will no long be your one stop shop for content. Apple is creating their unique content for Apple TV but the platform is open to all content creators to stream via their Apps.
Are any of these services going to be a one stop shop? People complain about cable and satellite but at least with my satellite TV I don’t have to care who the content owner is I just need to know what channel it’s on.

  • Apple quietly pulls 12-inch MacBook from sale

Yup. I knew people would be posting about an ARM Mac as soon as this bit came out. I would imagine that Apple would have kept the Macbook in the lineup longer if that were the case though. An ARM Macbook would be a major announcement, and why have people speculate about it months before it happens? If it were true, it seems that the announcement could come as a “one more thing” right after the new iPads are announced in September.
The lineup was a bit of a mess. It’s much simpler now. I’ve read elsewhere that Intel was no longer making chips suitable for this machine. Did Apple actually confirm this product is dead for good? The iPad Air went away for a while but now it’s back. Maybe the same will happen with the MacBook.

  • Fall iPhone refresh may remove 3D Touch from all 2019 models

Have suspected for years that this feature could be done in software.  As you press harder the impression becomes bigger, so a enlarging touch circle would yield similar results.
Well whatever they’re doing with Haptic Touch isn’t nearly as good. I hope there’s an actual reason for dropping it besides penny pinching.

  • Apple updates 13-inch MacBook Pro, adding Touch Bar to entire range

Looks like the Touch Bar is here to stay. Also these have the butterfly keyboards so it’s possible Apple isn’t ditching butterfly and the rumors of a new keyboard are for the rumored new 16” model. That could end up being an uber-pro machine, the laptop equivalent of a Mac Pro.
