  • Apple pushes 7.2.1 software update to third-generation Apple TV

I need my 3rd gen Apple TV to keep working because the 4th gen doesn't have an audio out port! It only has HDMI and I pass sound to my stereo system for much better sound than my TV would give me.

    Another Apple disappointment!!

I truly wish Steve Jobs would come back from the dead and KICK some SERIOUS BUTT !!
This is a non-issue. There are plenty of workarounds.

  • John McAfee offers to decrypt iPhone used by San Bernardino terrorists, criticizes FBI

It'll get his face on TV, which is what he really wants. It's an insincere offer. Also, he's no Libertarian if he's offering to break encryption (which he couldn't possibly do anyway).
How does offering to break encryption not make him a libertarian? No one is forcing him to do it, he's doing it under his own free will which is basically what libertarianism is all about, removing the immorality of government force.

  • First look: Apple adds voice dictation to latest Apple TV with tvOS 9.2 beta 3

Siri search on Apple TV. Im sure someone will like/ find it handy. As much as everyone poo-poo's it, I would like web pages to be displayed. Could they make a Safari browser app?

    Eg--

Siri - Show the local wx radar.

    Siri- Wiki of George Washington

I also would like a 'darker' background color. Im watching  a TV show/movie or play game or what ever, it ends and returns to the ---  BAAMMM-- hit with the white(well brite) screen of Apple TV. It needs the new iOS 'twilight' mode or what ever they call it.  But ... it is pretty!

Another thing to consider --- PIP with apps. More like separate windows to view side by side. Would come in handy for some use cases

I think there needs to be a safari app as well. For instance, Metallica live stream their "Too Heavy for Halftime" show on their website, so I had to pull it up on the iPad and AirPlay it over to Apple TV. It works fine, but kind of unescessary. Maybe it's just Apple's way of getting developers to create apps for the tv instead of taking the easy way out through internet links or whatever.

  • FCC to move on set-top box regulations, could open door for expanded Apple TV

The government needs to stop meddling in corporation's affairs. They think they know what's best, but really they're just picking winners and losers. Let the market and consumers decide whom the winners and losers are, not government and lobbyists.

  • Apple expands Maps capabilities with new Flyover, Nearby and Traffic location data

Still think one of Apple's biggest missteps was not acquiring Waze. Until Maps get about the same functionality, I have no use for it. Automatically re-routing based on traffic conditions, and selecting the quickest route upon entering an address is very nice. There's too many clicks involved with trying to get Maps to start giving directions. There's also still no way to avoid, highways, tolls, etc.
