New Beats products to be announced at Apple's Sept. 7 'iPhone 7' event
I've heard so many good and bad comments regarding Beats products, that I have been less that committed to finding out the truth for myself. I am by no means an audiophile in the strictest sense, however, I am a professional composer, and have my own standards for what is good an what is not. A couple weeks ago (no doubt in preparation for the announcement of new product), Best Buy was selling just what I was looking for — over-the-ear, bluetooth (4.0) Beats for nearly $185. off. Too much to resist, so I bit. I was pleasantly surprised by the range of tones I hadn't experienced even in much higher end "cans". Still, it'll be interesting to see/hear what Apple has done with Beats since their acquisition. -
Genius Bar doesn't hire retired Apple engineer, fires up age discrimination debate
They take one questionable snap-shot and turn it into an age-discrimination issue. BS! In Vegas where we have at least 6 Apple stores (most of which I've visited at one time or another), and although there are more young people, there is still quite a mixture of ages, as well as ethnicities. I'm 70 and remain quite tech savvy, but understand that a position at an Apple store is likely better suited to the tech-obsessed younger generation and their exuberance. No doubt this story will self-replicate over and over again with no basis in fact. -
U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi checks her Apple Watch on camera during State of the Union
SpamSandwich said:Nancy Pelosi is a horrendously corrupt politician. She's one reason the US needs across-the-board term limits. Other similarly corrupt old timers include John McCain, Lindsay Graham and Harry Reid. -
Samsung, Lenovo, LG & HP show off copies of Apple TV, MacBooks at CES
C'mon people, China and Korea, with their communist mentalities, see no wrong in stealing IP! So what you call "shameless copying", they see as their birthright. Nevertheless, with a global economy, you'd think they'd at least market their rip-offs differently — but no, not even that. Can you imagine the bucks they perceive they save in their thievery? However, in the cellphone market alone, Apple reaped 94% of ALL the profits regardless. The irony of a culture that is intellectually far above average should be able to innovate, and they are not lazy, so my mind can't wrap itself around their motives.
