Apple tests EU by adding scare screens to apps using third-party payments [u]
LOL @ "Scare screens."
It's informative and factual.
The EU wants to open people up to all kinds of junk, the least Apple could do it let them know.
The caution symbols is indeed warranted. And the EU should have mandated the caution screen to begin with - you know, if their DMA was legit and actually for the benefit of the people using the app stores. -
Epic Games says Apple has blocked 'Fortnite' from the App Store worldwide
Such sensationalist statements remind me of when Apple had an exclusive contract with Drake and stopped Tidal from live streaming a Drake concert. Then Jay Z campus out with some line like “Apple is interfering with artistry. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by them” etc. when in reality, Tidal was stealing. That’s Epic here. Not being able to treat the USA App Store like the creepy EU one and then saying “Apple blocked us!” When all Apple did was tell them to do it right.Freaking weirdos running some of the companies we deal with all tje time. -
Trump is too busy for his own tariff negotiations, so will dictate terms instead
I think that’s only part of the story.Jinping didn’t want to negotiate himself so he sent “his people” to do so. Trump did the same.I think when key leaders want to negotiate, trump will do so. But he’s got really strong competent folks doing that, so he doesn’t need to overextend himself doing every little thing. He’s the president. He has a team. He’s empowering his team to do what they’re supposed to do - as leadership classes teach leaders to do. The guy does everything. It’s about time he lets the other guys rise up. When you have a talented team, you can trust them to do important stuff. -
Trump has a problem with Tim Cook, because Foxconn is building factories in India
jesusfreak said:These comments, "it is impossible", are frankly BS and why we are facing the problems we are facing now.
The truth will end up somewhere in the middle. Many companies CAN do more here in the US. As Americans we have
become addicted to cheap labor at our own long term expense. We can do MORE in the USA. Maybe some things
don't make sense, but we have to realize that many of the "cheap" products we are buying, are part of why our national
debt is getting cranked up. We are paying, whether we see it out the cashier or not. We are also paying a lot for many
middle men in Pharmaceuticals, Health Care, Education and more. There are a lot of unproductive people out there
leaching off the American taxpayer. If I have to pay $500 more for an iPhone and it starts to bring down our debt, so
be it. Bash Trump all you want. He's the only President in recent history to have the balls to face these facts and at
least TRY to do something about the problems. It takes a BIG PUSHER to move BIG BUREAUCRACIES and the status
quo. The middle men will not give up their loot easily. It’s not an easy thing to change entrenched methods - especially when they span global geography, governments, economies, and ideals. But for America, it’s important to get moving in this direction. And it’s important to msnufacturers at home. Not everything of course, but a good chunk. Finally we have a leader with the backbone to take the jabs and arrows of the naysayers and haters who could care less about selling out their country if it means they can have a cheap iPhone. The president knows cook doesn’t run Foxconn but he also knows cook is influential at Foxconn. And Foxconn opening factories in other countries outside china is a good thing. But when there is little to no action in America, I get the disappointment.Still, Foxconn is a Taiwanese company and Taiwan is constantly threatened by China. If Taiwanese companies don’t take steps to ensure they remain indispensable to the world, tje world may not be there for them when China gets more aggressive. So those moves are understandable if disappointing for other reasons. But the tarriffs appear to be having the desired effect and have brought stubborn and sbusive parties to the negotiating table. Not bad for not yet four months in office.
and the president did say it was a “little issue” not huge. Not crazy. Just something on his radar. As anyone would expect. So we will see what moves Tim, Foxconn, and others make in the coming months. -
President Trump talked to Apple CEO Tim Cook after China tariff reduction
As history has proven, it is unwise to think we’ve got Trump and his moves all figured out. Pundits will declare this that snd the other, and end up either egg on their faces, such as the China meeting, temporary or no. Such as Apple not getting any exemptions, etc. we’ve seen time and again thst there is a lot of misinformation aimed at harming the presidents reputation. And it’s those producing such hateful rhetoric thst end up looking foolish with their Nostradamus cosplay. He’s even got jinping talking about “trade wars don’t benefit anyone,” despot China waging trade war on the USA for a long time already. Now the president is making lucrative deals in Saudi. It seems a lot of people are confident in the current administration snd are putting their money where their mouth is.The world was a stage set to see America get smaller and weaker. Now it’s a stage set to see American return to power and strength.Tim Cook knows what’s up. He knows that you have to shake things up to break up entrenched ideas and patterns snd grt to where you want to go. It seems things are getting better sooner than anticipated and some of the anti-Trump news voices are just throwing hate - darts hoping something sticks. Kinda seems desperate.
