Tim Cook isn't going to get fired, and Steve Jobs isn't rolling over in his grave
There was only ine Steve Jobs cans he was the perfect man for his time.Likewise, there is only ine Tim Cook, who is the perfect man for his own time.I doubt cook could have started Apple from nothing. He wasn’t the visionary Steve was. In the same way, Steve could never have taken Apple to the unbelievable heights Tim has.And what a one-two punch the pair have been. Both have erred. It’s only human. No one not named Jesus has escaped this liability. But the successes make those rare misses look like a grain of sand at the bottom of the ocean.Would Steve have done some things differently? Of course! He’s a totally different animal. And no doubt Tik secretly questioned some of Steve’s moves in the privacy of his own mind. But was either or would either be so upset or dismayed as to lose faith in the other? Heck no. They’d probably appreciate the way the other has gone about solving a common problem.Steve was a legend, shaping the primordial landscape with raw vision and craft. Cook is the genius brainiac, taking that which was shaped and refining it to perfection, and taking such fine craftsmanship and industrializing it to both product perfection and profit perfection. The way he navigated the financial impact of COVID lockdowns was pure mastery. When everyone else bled money, Cook had Apple taking it in. Where Macs has a 4% market share, Cook put it somewhere around 16%. And then there’s the watch. #1 in its category. Easily. Sure the Car didn’t work out. But that doesn’t work out even for actual car companies. EVs are a rough business. But how’s the iPhone doing? The iPad? The Mac? Services? I mean, come on. Dude is a savage. M series processors that have completely rocked the usual suspects? Massive success. It seems just about anything cook touches turns to gold.So no. These two aren’t opposites who would be terrified of what the other would do. They compliment each other. One built the solid foundation and frame on timeless principles with a radical floor plan. The other built upon that, finishing it out with the finest materials and gave it a gigantic revolving driveway, so everyone had easy access to marvel at it and take some of that wonder home with them after each visit.Really a remarkable thing that we have Cookvright after Jobs. The perfect pairing with perfect timing. Don’t think we have ever seen such a thing before. -
New Vietnam trade deal means Apple will pay at least five times more in tariffs

The 20% tariff is double the current minimum tariff rate the US is charging on goods from Vietnam and virtually every other country.
“In return, Vietnam will do something that they have never done before, give the United States of America TOTAL ACCESS to their Markets for Trade,” he added. “In other words, they will ‘OPEN THEIR MARKET TO THE UNITED STATES,’ meaning that, we will be able to sell our product into Vietnam at ZERO Tariff.”
https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/07/02/business/trade-deal-vietnam-trumpI don’t know how snyonr can argue against this move. Yet Another notch in the win column. It’s a “lopsided deal” in favor of the USA according to some economists.
