  • Twelve South ships HiRise Pro stand for raising height of iMac & iMac Pro

The usual ergonomic recommendation is that the top edge of the screen should be at eye level. You're probably on the taller side if you need your iMac to be higher.

Just don't hold your breath waiting for James Bond to use an iPhone. I'm sure EON Studios have tied up their deal with Sony for a few more years.

I presume they still make phones, I haven't really checked recently.

Sony's Bond deal ended with Spectre, though they are competing with other studios to renew it. I'm just assuming the product placement goes hand in hand with that. Even if there's an opening for Apple, it requires a serious commitment to co-branding, something like Apple hasn't done, IIRC, since they were in Independence Day in 1996. From what I've read, it's so competitive, the Bond producers expect and get brands to pay for and produce all of the film's advertising.

  • Apple declares last polycarbonate MacBook model obsolete

Damn. I actually have one of these. I guess Sierra is the end of the line for me.
Vintage means the end of hardware repair support, but software support can sometimes continue longer. El Capitan in 2015 supported some 2007 machines that had been Vintage for a couple years. Sierra too supports one or two generations of Vintage Macs, and maybe future versions of macOS will hold the line on system requirements as 10.8 through 10.10 did for older Macs with enough memory.

  • Steve Jobs initially blasted Genius Bars at Apple stores, says former retail head

And yet, here in central Illinois, it's a 2+ hour drive to the nearest Apple Store.
Apple's retail model is high rent, high traffic. Try a smaller independent:  locate.apple.com.

Don't use fingerprints for overall device unlock. Better safe than sorry.
And regarding travel in or out of the US... basically do not carry a phone or computer of any kind with you. Authorities are demanding unlock and surrender of the devices while they copy the contents.
Perhaps wipe phone before travel and then restore upon arrival? And re computers - trash your documents folder before travel and either connect an external ssd drive to restore or work directly from (packed separately from laptop), or live with cloud docs while away. The idea that border controls can demand this kind of access is outrageous, but at least it is relatively easy to circumvent.
No. That's seen as suspicious. A blank phone might just as well get you refused entry as refusing to unlock it. And while US citizens and green card holders must eventually be granted entry, they can detain you as long as they like, or however long your lawyer can get a judge to agree becomes unreasonable. And then who knows what list you'll end up on.
There are still about 15-30% of Americans who actually don't use the Internet or social media, depending how the question is asked.
