  • Apple's Cook repeats benefits of AR in interview, says AR glasses tech not mature

"We don't give a rat's about being first, we want to be the best, and give people a great experience. But now anything you would se[e] on the market any time soon would not be something any of us would be satisfied with," Cook said. "Nor do I think the vast majority of people would be satisfied."
Then why did they launch ARKit on devices without depth sensing hardware for the rear camera? It's something that's almost essential for a great AR experience.
Not sure you are making sense.

ARKit was launched recently just a few months before launch of iPhone X with depth sensing cameras. The lead time was needed to get apps ready by the time the phone came to market. That it is partially supported on older models is an irrelevant detail. If it was launched along with iPhone6/6s/7 etc, then your comment makes sense.

  • Wistron set to help produce Apple's 2017 iPhones in India - report

Why this is not an Indian company ? Where is India's technology with over 1.1 billion people? Why Indian did not demand an Indian company?
India does not discriminate about indian/non-indian companies. They only ask that atleast 30% of the components of a product sold in india, is sourced locally if you want to setup a single-brand retail store. It is a simple enough rule.

You are always free to sell your products in multi-brand stores without having to follow this restriction.

  • India urges Apple, others to embed government-funded biometric ID technology into smartphones

Ok, too much mis-information going on here.

    - Aadhar is not mandatory. The Supreme Court of india ruled on it and made it non-mandatory. Despite it being optional about 83% of the people are already registered for Aadhar and the rest are just being lazy or ignorant. So, nobody has forced anything.

    - There are strict guidelines on what the biometric information can be used for (again the supreme court ensured that). So, for ex. the biometric information can't be used by the Police etc. etc. It is purely for the welfare and social security system and general identification/authentication. There are a myriad cards or ids currently (like driving licence, PAN cards etc.), and Aadhar unifies various existing systems and eliminates wastage and crime. Unlike in developed countries, welfare crime in india is very high.

    - The article doesn't give enough information on what the government wants, but not attending a meeting where their requirements/justifications are presented is just stupid.

Regarding Apple Pay, NFC is non-existent in india, don't see it picking up anytime soon. So, I don't think apple should even be bothered about it.

  • Apple Watch Series 2 abandons gold Edition models in favor of ceramic

Its ok. Apple got the 'watch' right, but their bid to turn it into expensive jewelry was not as successful as they hoped, beyond the $1200 price point. It is fine to accept it and move on. Every move can't be an absolute success.
