  • Apple, Google attack EU's Big Tech regulatory proposals

Forgive my potential ignorance, but this sounds like it is specifically targeted to the big “US based” tech firms.

If it was applied to everyone, it sounds like I should be able to go into Dominos, tell them I want to use the Pizza Hut app to pay, and that they provide me with a Papa John’s Pizza. I am not sure why the fact that these companies are large, or that the products are digital should change things.

I can’t go into Walmart and demand they take my Target Credit Card, or let me pay with my Target Wallet.

Can anyone that understands this better than I do help me understand what the EU is trying to do here?

The choice is made before I get to the App Store or Google Play. There is still a choice.

  • Apple, Epic Games experts debate whether iOS gamers switch to other platforms

So I had an original PlayStation. Then a PS2. Then an original Xbox when that launched. Know what I've never bought since? A PlayStation. no PS3, PS4, PS5.

I have bought an Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X

So shouldn't Epic also be suing Microsoft? I can't sideload their games on my Xbox. I'm far more locked in to Xbox than Apple, even though I've been using and buying Apple products since 1983....

  • Epic Games witnesses criticize App Store anti-steering provisions

Apologies for my ignorance. But this quote, “He added that the solution wouldn't be possible for apps that don't have a website or web version, or for consumers without easy access to a computer.”

    1. if an app doesn’t haves website or web version, how would they offer the ability to purchase said in game currency on a non existing website?
    2. He does realize that both the iPhone and iPad have a web browser available, right? In fact, they have many. So this is also not an issue.

  • Nintendo's 'Super Mario Run' vanishes from iOS App Store [u]

“The title is basically a for-pay game that includes a few sample levels to whet player palates.”

I have a more sinister view. As a $9.99 game it would allow a family of 6 to all have the complete game for $9.99. As an IAP? That same family pays $59.94
