  • Review: Amazon's Echo Show 5 is a quality bedside companion

So...it’s like an iPad, tethered to a table, that’s harder to use. Got it. Sounds great.
except it's only a less than a 3rd of the price of the cheapest iPad...
Ya that's because you can't use it anywhere other than an end-table. Currently, I have an iPad sitting next to my bed that I can give commands to, and pick up to use in bed, or tote with me to the can, or to the living room, or wherever. Why would I want a device that's harder to use and I can't move? Because it's cheaper is a good reason!? So is a can of baked beans, but...
You would want one because it is more specialized and easier to use for its intended functions, than an iPad. Actually, you'd want one because it's made to be left at that location, precisely. Also, because the sound is better, etc. But you already knew that, just wanted to be cute.

  • Apple may switch butterfly keyboard for scissor version in MacBook Air

    The butterfly keyboard rocks.

Best keyboard ive user. Perfect and efficient travel.

    Love everything about it.

Bought my mbp new in 2017 and the keyboard has been nothing but awesome since day 1.

There is is nothing wrong with it and it is the way of the future for keys.

Going back to older scissor style keys keys would be a backward step.

No need. Keep pushing ahead Apple. You guys know what you’re doing.
If that's how you feel, then good news. You'll like the next keyboard Apple will release just as much, because Apple knows what it's doing.

  • Jony Ive's departure follows years of dissatisfaction and absenteeism

Interesting that other executives did not want the Apple Watch yet. Maybe they were waiting out battery life improvements. That's what I would have done, until at least a week battery life. Either that or reduce the features to achieve that battery life. As far as Apple as a luxury watch: they should have created an expensive shell, which you would re-use across multiple guts across the years. So, just replace the innards with the newest ones, while keeping your $10,000 outer shell. I could have seen that. But not for a watch you have to replace every two years.
Overall, this is a stunning article, if true. I get that there's a lot of secrecy around what Apple does, but Ive's legacy would have been served much better if he would have better explained and defended his design decisions, and even taken responsibility for fails.

  • Apple design chief Jony Ive to depart later this year, create new studio with Apple as cli...

Good riddance. Maybe the ports will come back now, and better keyboards, upgradeability, repairability, and other common sense things that left lately. Sounds funny how he was the top design officer, but people think he shouldn’t be held accountable for all design decisions.

  • Microsoft should have been Apple's challenger in mobile, says Bill Gates

MS was caught in cruise control asleep at the wheel. I always thought it was Ballmer's fault, not Bill's. Maybe the mobile strategy went back even further into Bill's years. That being said, this can happen to any big company that's wildly successful, if they're too "courageous".
