Questionable rumor claims Apple 'considering' 2018 update to budget 9.7-inch iPad
The 2017 iPad was a good move by Apple. Hopefully they'll do that with Macs with the Mac mini update also. It's making sure nobody encroaches on their turf and takes people away from the Apple ecosystem. So, I guess, they can go higher and lower at the same time, and if you want to get top notch, top price stuff, you can, and if you don't you can still use MacOS on a budget. I have this new iPad and it's good. -
After Apple's HomePod delay, Amazon touts budget Echo Dot as best selling Black Friday pur...
They are obviously very different devices: one wants to be a very high quality speaker designed by audiophiles, with a price to match. The other, a smart assistant, with the possibility of also having quality audio if you hook it up to quality audio system/speakers. The only thing they have in common is the smart assistant on each. For me the Dot is very useful, just ask for the news, and it gives you the NPR news brief. Ask most anything. For this price, it is worth it. Even when the HomePod comes out, it will not compete with the Dot at all. Apple, however, would be smart to make the Apple TV into a Dot. Put a speaker in the Apple TV, so you can hear feedback even when the sound system/TV is turned off. And a mic array, and there you go. Most Apple households have an Apple TV. Courage! Do it! -
Tesla unveils new Semi with a 500 mile range, Roadster that can hit 250 miles per hour
If you look at cars today, and think, what would Apple do if they wanted to move it forward, the way they did for the smartphones back in 2007, I can't think they could do anything better than what Tesla does. It pushes autonomy as far as is practical, their aesthetic design is top notch, and they take a step forward while also trying to stay practical. And for some industries, you cannot do this at profit, at least at first. At least they are trying, and building things, even if profits are to follow. It's something we can see, and soon, be able to afford also, with Tesla 3. So yes, I think that is why we see this on an Apple forum, and also because Apple tried to enter this field. So if Apple would buy Tesla, I can see Musk as the CEO visionary, and Cook as the COO he's always been. -
Apple designer Jony Ive defends ditching home button, other tech in interview about iPhone...
So, he says that it is hard to remove features which have been effective. If they have been effective, you don't remove them. If you have something more effective to replace them, you don't need courage to replace them, you need common sense, to just show people how they are more effective. I think if you explain to people why exactly you are removing the features, without having to use the word "courage", people would understand.
Then the explanation of why the latest tech is out of reach of many people, kind of a non-answer.
There really is nothing interesting in this interview (the quotes included in this article). Nothing that we haven't heard before: we design or experience when asked about the price, ambiguous answers when asked about design decisions. Seems to be a common theme with this guy.
