    Airmail looks great! Unfortunately it's really buggy and despite the appearance of great customer service (a customer service agent is almost always available to chat - and will then ask you to mention their name in positive App Store reviews which is weird) but actual, longstanding bugs are not taken care of in an acceptable timeframe (or ever?). I paid for the MacOS and the iOS versions but finally gave up and deleted them when the apps couldn't even reliably search for messages in my mailboxes. Airmail's tech support asked for screen caps and videos of the problem (which I sent) and then didn't bother to reply to multiple messages. Buyer beware.

    Are you kidding me? You don't need to "define beauty or ugly" to compare the aesthetics of LG's chunky black base and plastic bezel (awkwardly upside-down-looking because of the thicker top) with Apple's elegant aluminum and glass designs? Do you need to see each in person to consider how each monitor would look next to an aluminum Apple laptop (hint: one will uses the same high quality materials and refined industrial design language and the other does not). I rue the day my Apple Thunderbolt display (in all its non-retina glory) needs to be replaced. Porche vs Pinto.

    Instead of a silly medal, I would prefer to go to the Health App or Activity App and find a meaningful summary of my exercise & activity that helps me to see and understand how I've been doing over the past week, month, quarter and year and to help me tune my exercise and activity in order to promote my health.   Right now those offerings are second rate -- particularly the health app. 

    Serious-ish athlete here (marathons, half-marathons) who, while agreeing that the Watch / Health apps could use more granularity, flexibility and pertinent info, totally digs the beautifully designed medals. I recently walked a few extra km after an 18km run just to earn the 3X Move Goal medal. Silly.

  • Spotify promises fix for Mac glitch causing excessive writes on hard disks & SSDs

    A year ago I stopped using Spotify on my MBP because it was causing kernel panics. I've recently considered installing the app again but this news just reinforces the impression that they don't know what they're doing and they're not coming anywhere near my computer. If it wasn't for a free pro account (thanks to my iPhone contract), I wouldn't bother with Spotify at all.
