  • Rumor: Apple to adopt USB Type-C in another upcoming MacBook, whether it's Pro or Air

I am not sure how this is hate. I prefer to buy recent machines, because it means they tend to last longer before they are out dated. I tend to keep computers 6-8 years. Why spend thousands on a computer that is already 15 months old when you open the box?

This is is simply a question of timing. They will have a new MBP. It would be nice, and intelligent from a marketing and sales stand point, to release before one of the biggest reasons to buy one, i.e. The start of college. Is that really difficult to understand?
you conflating two points -- something newer coming out after you buy something else, vs performance (your original complaint suggested your daughter wouldnt be able to do her programming on today's MBP). if you're worried about something newer coming out after you buy one today i can't help you -- theres always something newer coming out. but if its actual concern about her needing tools and she needs it now, theres absolutely no good reason to wait or complain that today's MBs don't have enough power to enable her to do her programming coursework. they do. in fact almost any MB Air/Pro is going to be fine for a student's needs.
No, I didn't suggest that she couldn't use a current model. I suggested that I would like her to have a newer model since I am paying for it and want it to last.

Nor or am I concerned that a newer model will come out after purchase. I am well aware of the fact that there is always something newer. And I prefer to buy when a new model comes out to extend that useful life.

Again, I explained this pretty clearly, and you are putting words and reasons into the post that I didn't write. Nor is this "hate" as you claimed before. This is simply a person who is in the market for a laptop hoping a new model comes out before the buying window closes.

Maybe be you try reading what you respond to rather than responding to a strawman?

At this point it could have RJ-11 jacks for all I care, just release a pro ASAP. Some of us have kids to send to college, and I am not buying a 500 day old machine for my daughters first day of astrophysics and programming. Come on Apple.
i really don't understand all the MBP hate. I'm a professional dev, running a Windows virtual machine running SQL Server and Visual Studio on my 2014 rMBP -- works great. flies. I don't experience any slowdowns or build problems or anything. even do some 3D renders for box shots.

your kid won't have any problems coding on whatever rMBP you get her.

Another example of interesting experiment but it will never see the light of day as a product.
yes, because experimental research *never* evolves into real solutions for real problems in real products through years of hard work and iterative improvement.

smh. do you guys even listen to yourselves? you do realize that practically any modern computing tech was once an impractical experiment? as if flash memory just hopped out of a seashell, fully formed and ready to slap into your *handheld computer*. have you seen the size of the first storage devices?!? they were dresser-size.
These are the children of the people who said touch screens where impractical because they could never be small enough to matter and the grand children of the people who said mobile phones would need too much infrastructure to be implemented and great grandchildren of people who said screens would never show color. ...and they are breeding.

This seems to suggest there's something else in its class. There isn't.
