  • OpenAI is releasing a ChatGPT app for Mac first, well ahead of Windows

Weird because open ai is part owned by Microsoft. You’d think Mac would come later.
It’s likely doing the voice to text on device to reduce latency, so need the neural net processing in Apple’s chips. It only works on the M series Mac’s.
It's not. It's just site wrapper in swift. And it doesn't have all the features of the web version even.  It can't access my screen or do anything that the browser version can't.
If this was uploaded to the App Store it would have been refused.

  • New iPad Pro review roundup: impressive performance held back by iPadOS

if the iPad was just another Mac, then there would be no grief about it not being a Mac. It also wouldn't even exist.
Other vendors are offering laptops with touch. Why wouldn't Apple be able to bring iPadOS and macOS together?
Because it sucks. The OS experience on those laptops totally sucks with touch. Exactly why Apple isn't doing this (yet).

  • Apple's new macOS 14.5 update is out but brings only bug fixes

2.5GB update for only "bug fixes?"
Not just that, but just the bare minimum of bugfixes even. 2.5GB for some minor code changes. Why not pack 50-100 bugfixes in a patch? There's plenty to choose from.

  • Apple set to deliver AI assistant for transcribing, summarizing meetings and lectures

THIS is the sort of AI enhancement that is actually meaningful.
I have no use for hallucinating LLMs handling my e-mail or writing error-laden book reports.
I have no use for gimmicks.
Thank you, Apple for making something that improves my life.
What are you talking about? I use ChatGPT 4.5 on a daily basis and it is amazing for many tasks, and not 'error-laden' or 'hallucinating'.
Don't pretend Apple is solving an issue here. They are playing catch-up. No doubt they'll nail the execution.
So do I and I would take nothing it produces at face value. It's often factually wrong and makes a lot of stuff up, even on your own data. This is well-known, and a 'feature' of any current model on the market. Denying that just makes you look silly.

  • Alleged M4 benchmarks verify Apple's iPad Pro performance claims

Finally some decent single-core improvements! Can't wait to see how it performs in the mac versions.
