Arm CEO 'excited' about its future as an independent company
nadriel said:michelb76 said:Wow, so they did a full 360 about the IPO? A month ago they said it would be the worst thing to happen because of possible shareholder pressure.
It remains to be seen how the company will be valued. The 66 billion dollars NVIDIA was willing to pay seems a bit excessive for the revenue and profits ARM generates, for the stock value I mean.
I suspect NVIDIA planned on leveraging the technology -- which is why they would pay highly for it and why others were worried about them owning it.

Tesla design chief takes shot at Apple, claims there's 'nothing to look forward to'

The Tesla design chief did acknowledge that he wears an Apple Watch, but said he only does so "because of the fitness thing side to it."
"Otherwise I haven't really found much purpose to [the Apple Watch], other than the fitness part," he said.

Read on AppleInsiderThat's weird: Most of the people I know who are only concerned about tracking fitness wear Garmins -- because that's what Garmin specializes in -- and they are very good at it. Pretty much the gold standard. The Apple Watch offers good fitness (not great) plus a host of other functions.I just set up HomeKit for my grandson's Apple Watch so he can control the brightness and color of his overhead lights with it -- plus of course he can stream music and get messages and FaceTime & regular calls from his friends on it. Even though he (sadly) is uninterested in fitness, he loves his watch.

Apple announces 'Tap to Pay', lets users take payments on iPhone
saarek said:Sigh, US only. Just like Apple Cash. It’s such a shame that Apple doesn’t bother to make things like this available to their other big markets like the U.K.I don't think its entirely up to Apple. There are lots of greedy, grubby, scared little hands involved in getting these payment systems operational. If it were only up to Apple these systems would be up and running from day one worldwide.
