Battle of the super yachts: Jeff Bezos' Y721 versus Steve Jobs' 'Venus'
To those criticizing Bezos for not contributing the money it cost to build the ship to others:Bezos has helped to get me through the Pandemic. His company is one of the few that has been delivering food and necessities to people since it began. It's one of the many failings of the U.S. government that it did not promote and support home delivery of food and necessities. But Amazon picked up the slack.I am fine with the fact that Bezos made money while helping others. That's why capitalism exists. The only reason. -

As the article points out: They knew the bridge would have to be partially disassembled to get the boat out of the ship yard. What it doesn't say is that it will be reassembled at Bezo's expense in a matter of weeks. While there are people who are objecting, the locals say that building the ship there was worth it to them and the local economy. -
Microsoft says that if Apple isn't stopped now, its antitrust behavior will just get worse...

And MS is right! Let’s also open up all of Microsoft’s stores to 3rd parties! I wanna be able to sell my crappy games on Xbox without giving them money!!
Microsoft has a monopoly on Windows!! Microsoft, police yourselves!
For one you can install whatever you want on their devices. For another they allow third party payments for when you do use their store.
Do you really MS is afraid of Apple enterprise software? Apple has a lot work to do if they want to get close to MS in the enterprise, specially when you consider the ecosystem MS have for enterprises. They are afraid Apple will finally get serious about enterprise software and compete with Office in a concerted manner. They also see the Mac install base increasing significantly since the pandemic. That means fewer windows licenses. What’s crazy is that if Apple doubled their install base Microsoft would still have 80% of the market, but they are just greedy and want it all.
And yes, Mac installed based grew, but looks like Windows too, considering Windows 10 / 11 are installed in 1.5B devices.

Desktop Operating System Market Share Worldwide | Statcounter Global Stats
But as you said, in recent years, both, macOS and Chrome OS market share are growing quickly. While I'm sure that is true, I am not sure that it is meaningful since Microsoft has, for decades, held a a near complete monopoly over operating systems. The genius of Bill Gates was not in technology but in marketing -- he figured out how to monopolize the OS side of a rapidly growing industry using an inferior technology. Neither his DOS nor his Windows were the match for things like CPM, MacIntosh and OS2 -- all of them were superior to Windows. -
Zagg launches new $99-a-year smartphone insurance plan
This is the same price as AppleCare+ but it doesn't have the additional TLC that AppleCare+ provides to resolve non-hardware problems. Plus it lacks the ability to add theft & loss coverage.Plus, it is less convenient: you pay for the repair upfront then try to collect a reimbursement. So why would an iPhone buyer choose this? I don't see the advantage. -
Apple Watch saves man's life after hard fall from an electric bike
AutigerMark said:Why so many “Apple Watch saves life…” articles recently?
It’s great that this and other mobile devices can save lives and auto dial emergency services but honestly it is far from unusual in 2022.
I think these things need much more publicity. Few seem to understand how these watches can save lives and / or save people from a horrible future.
