  • The Apple Watch 'future of health' on your wrist is likely still years away, say doctors

As the article points out (if you read it closely enough):  There are two things going on here:
    1)  The physician is a medical person concerned with medical treatments of medical conditions.
    2)  The Apple Watch is primarily concerned with promoting the person's health through lifestyle.

The two are at odds with each other:
It was been estimated that 80% of the many trillions of dollars we spend on health care each year go to treat so called "Age Related Chronic Diseases" such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, dementia, etc.   But, it has has been shown that 80% of those diseases could be eliminated or mitigated with a healthy lifestyle.

Physicians focus on medical treatments.   They work in a "Disease Management" system.
The Apple Watch can help put most of them out of business by reducing or eliminating their most profitable diseases.

"The problem is, that is not accepted by the medical community and it won't be for quite some time," said Dr. Steven LeBoeuf, co-founder of biometrics firm Valencell. "The [FDA] would have to approve it and then doctors have to accept it, and then they need to get reimbursed for it. That's a long process. It's not as straightforward as one would think."

The FDA gave their stamp of approval for the ECG feature arguably a much more advanced feature than the other features used on the watch. I’m confused. Does this Dr. Steven LeBoeuf know this or did he assume that is wasn’t already approved ߤ覬t;/span>

No, he is correct.  FDA approval only means Apple can sell it, not that a doctor needs to accept it.
    The scenario would be:

Patient:  Hello? I need to see the doctor because my Apple Watch said I have A-Fib.
Secretary:   OK, we can give you an appointment (2 weeks or more away of course!)
Doctor:  (2 weeks later) I see!  Well, make an appointment with a lab to have an EKG done.  We'll let you know what it says

A patient reporting "My watch said...." would be taken no differently than the same patient saying "My arm hurts..."   Each is simply a patient report to be evaluated.

As for the Apple Watch, no physician will ever take it as the final word.   They have no way of validating the results because there are too many variables.

    -----------------------------------------------------
But, the Apple Watch is already making one big difference in medicine:  A-Fib has historically only been diagnosed when a patient complains of things like shortness of breath or a physician notices an irregular heartbeat.   As Dr. Reifell of the Apple Watch based Heartline Study points out:
" Since the turn of the century, we've used ECG to diagnose A-Fib.  Given the sporadic nature of A-Fib, using ECGs when a patient presents with an irregular pulse is almost diagnosis by coincidence.   Now we can bring ECGs to the patient with implanted and wearable devices like pacemakers, insertable monitors, and the Apple Watch"

At the very least, the Apple Watch can trigger a closer look by a physician who could order a Holter Monitor where data is conflicting.

  • Apple shifted orders from Foxconn to Luxshare to assist $275B China deal

    Hope TSMC is watching.

Apple is hurting Taiwan based Foxconn tremendously here.

Next, China will start a chip foundry and pressure Apple into shifting their processors there. Short of military terrorism and attempted takeover against Taiwan, China will use strong arm market tactics. Actually, thanks to Apples compliance, they already are.

TSMC should consider leaning more into the Intel partnership and others. That will hedge against catastrophe should Apple pull another fast one.

China already has chip factories.  But they're growing them at record rates to defend themselves against foolish, counter-productive American sanctions.

As for Taiwan, they don't have to take it.  It's already theirs.  it's been theirs.  But yeh, they'll do what they need to do to keep it from splitting off -- just as the U.S. did when some of our territories tried the same.
Western nations especially the five eyes misunderstand Chinese history. Taiwan is a part of China. That is the claim by China. According to this premise if China reunite Taiwan then Taiwan is a part of China. Why would China persecute TSMC?

The western mentality is to deny Taiwan as a part of China. China think western nations are splitting Taiwan from China. According to the western theory, since Taiwan is not a part of China. China wants to hurt Taiwan and TSMC. Do you see the contradictions of these two thoughts?

The sad truth is Taiwan is now ruled by separatists party DPP. DPP try to coerce western nations into thinking Taiwan is an independent nation. The same as Uyguirs separatists are doing.

The ridiculousness of that American sponsored delusion (that Taiwan is an independent country) is that prior to the current One-China policy recognized the world over (even by the U.S. -- except for the crazies) Taiwan claimed that China was part of Taiwan!
Funny, but China's diplomatic efforts seem to be "pissing off countries" that are now coming around to the supporting Taiwans continued independence.

    https://foreignpolicy.com/2021/11/08/europe-is-doubling-down-on-taiwan/

I used to think that you were a U.S. Citizen; now I question that due to your obvious support of authoritarianism.

LOL...  So your hatred of China is driving you to think that anybody who supports truth belongs to the CCP?

And again, that truth is:   Taiwan claimed that China belonged to Taiwan until the world ended that delusion and collectively and officially recognized the One China policy -- where Taiwan was an autonomous region of China.

And, China is apparently happy to keep it that way -- unless the China haters continue to promote insurrection there.  Then they will squash it and make it fully part of China.

    Those are your two choices:
-- Taiwan will remain an autonomous region of China.
-- Taiwan will be folded in as an integral part of China.

We saw what happened in HongKong when western countries promoted insurrection.  The same will happen in Taiwan if those same western countries continue to promote insurrection there.

But, like any school yard bully, you and the other China Haters will continue trying to push others around -- till they push you back.  Then you'll whine and complain and try to blame it on your victim.

Just as I predicted in previous article post.

But I’m sure this will turn political nonetheless.
"Turn" political? This is part of a Chinese push to weaken the Taiwanese economy in any way they can. Despite their military buildup, their ruling clique would love it if Taiwan fell under their control without a fight.

China has been clear:  they don't want to "weaken" Taiwan.  They just want it to return to the One-China policy Taiwan and the world agreed to 40 some years ago when Taiwan gave up the the delusion of actually being the official government for all of China.
