  • First look: Apple's Powerbeats 3 Bluetooth headphones with W1 chip and 12-hour battery life

How odd that these use micro-USB, why would they not feature lightning ?(or USB-C for that matter) It is good however to see more of these high quality wireless products hitting the market. I'm personally a fan of over ear headphones with noise cancelation so I guess I will have to wait a little until the Beats Studio also features the W1 chip.

  • Concept imagines OLED Touch Bar on Apple's wireless Magic Keyboard

I fail to see how the drain from the touchbar could be so big that it would reduce battery life for the keyboard from 1 month to effectively 0.
If it were to be incorporated (and I hope it will) I would imagine that a battery life of at least 48 hours would be feasible. Additionally Apple could turn off the touchbar display whenever the mac computer screen is in sleep mode to conserve energy.

  • How to restore the classic Mac startup chime to Apple's new 2016 MacBook Pros

I wonder why they chose to remove it. It is not like people reboot their MacBooks constantly throughout the day that it would be a problem. Granted it takes up space while it isn't being used often. Software real estate is the cheapest one we have and keeping an old but nostalgic reference to the machine's origins seems like just that small dot on the I that adds the emotional attachment to the machine many of us share. It will certainly be missed.

  • Apple Chief Design Officer Jony Ive details MacBook Pro Touch Bar design process

"before settling on the Touch Bar as it stands today."

Can't figure out what else to do with a laptop. "Settles" on marketing gimmick.
You do realise that it always comes down to settling for the best compromise when you want to improve technology? Getting rid of old standards in favour of new ones is always a balance. Stuff costs money, power and space. Bringing a laptop for exactly the same price to market every 4 years means you need to cut down on new tech you are going to put into it. If you don't want to compromise on advancements then price will go up. I'm sure that during the development process the team stumbled on some ideas that might have been more interesting but had less use cases or had significantly higher costs. Bringing a laptop to market that is usable for everyone and not the 1% niche of a niche means finding a solution that works for all sides hence a compromise is made and teams "settle" for a solution.
