  • Samsung's Galaxy Ring is out, but it won't be a problem for the Apple Ring

Samsung (or whomever) always tries to be first, rushing products to the market based solely on Apple rumored products.

More like Apple just watching how others fare, gixing issues and molding them into a really usable product.

Rings like Oura, Movana, Circular Ring and now the Samsung will help Apple developing theirs and launch it when it’s ready. Unfortunately the market often demands launching it just before it’s ready, turning first generation users into beta testers / guinea pigs.

I’m looking forward for a good ring, without an additional subscription. The Movana is promising but currently they only offer a ring targeted exclusively at women.

  • Apple wants to make grooved keys to stop nasty finger oil transfer to MacBook Pro screens

With my 16" Intel Macbook Pro that finger oil transfer to the screen was pretty nasty. Had to clean my screen a lot. With my M2 Max Macbook Pro, also 16" it's not at all an issue. And why should it, just ensure the distance between keyboard and keys is large enough not to transfer any oil. A Pro laptop doesn't need to be ultra-thin. If I'd want to go think, I'd buy that gorgeous 15" Air.

  • If you want blue iMessage bubbles that much, buy an iPhone

What a bunch of loosers outside the US, not caring about blue bubbles. Blue bubbles are Da Bomb.

So, I must be one of those loosers. About one in 100 messages I receive are with iMessage (and 90% of them are just plain old silly SMS messages, for instance for 2FA). For messaging I use WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and even Google Chat. And good ol’ email.

If I’d ask my daughter (14yo) what color iMessages are in, she won’t know. She’ll probably even ask “what’s iMessage?” even though she has been using it for years. The messages app used is just not relevant for her. Where your pals can be reached is, no matter the color of whatever bubble.

Easy fix: allow the bubble color to be configurable.

  • The OpenCore patcher will help older Macs run macOS Sonoma -- eventually

My daughter uses a 2014 MB Air for school, with OCLP and Ventura. It’s just perfect - her schoolmates with Windows laptops envy her (why they keep selling crappy Windows laptops to school students still baffles me). That old Air is just a better fit for the task. Looking forward to WiFi support on OCLP Sonoma.

It would be something if Apple finally realizes their hardware is still very usable even after 10 years and it’s just a waiste to force people to upgrade when it’s not necessary, also in regard of the environment. Please, Apple, get OCLP out of business by supporting your devices for at least 15 years (without slowing them down considerably that is, and without crippling them unless hardware restraints force the OS to gradual degredation).

  • Zuckerberg's Apple Vision Pro hot take just gave him a Ballmer iPhone moment

As a developer I'm intrigued. The AVP might allow me to use three big usable augmented reality screens for hours. But I wonder if this really is a good solution for daily development work (and a lot of functional administration and support). I still feel it's too much in the pricey gimmick corner. Guess I'll just wait for reviews of people who receive such an AVP to work with for a prolongued period.
