  • 20.5-inch MacBook Pro with foldable display rumored for 2025, no folding iPad in 2024

I'm so totally not interested in foldable screens. Not on a macbook, not on a phone. Okay, it would be cool to be see portable foldable cinema screens unfold to at least 34" or maybe even 80" or something. Won't buy one though but I'm sure some niche market does exist for it.

  • Keychron Q8 Review: A good starter ergonomic & mechanical keyboard

I'm not into ergonomic keyboards. Tried some in the past and always went wrong with the B key as that one should be typed with the left index finger. Says who? As a programmer I can type extremely fast on a standard keyboard, having learned blind typing without a cource, hence the apparant wrongly learned B typing habit. That habit doesn't hurt on ordinary keyboards.

Now this Q8 board. It might not be the first, but it's the first I see having the B for both left and right index fingers. Guess I'd like to try this keyboard when I can. I worry though about the height. I'm now using a Logitech MX Keys. I just don't want to go back to sweaty wrist pads like in the old days.

  • USB-C on iPhone is good - but not as an excuse for a bad law

    miguelghs said:
This article is wrong in so many levels. I keep seeing media and blogs obsessing about Apple but what they fail to see is that I have to keep a cable for my phone, a cable for my headphones, a cable for my computer, a cable for my watch, a cable for my tablet, etc etc… and as me, there’s many others.

I wish this law was approved many years ago and we wouldn’t have to deal with this mess.
Many years ago a similar law was proposed, not with USB-C but with mini-USB being the de-facto standard at the time.  If that law had passed then we'd all be using mini-USB connectors now. Very likely we'd never be using the lightning cable nor the USB-C cable then. With that ruling we'd even be stuck with VGA and DVI cables as mini-USB isn't fast enough for video-transport. Glad the ruling didn't pass. It would definitely have blocked innovation, just like the USB-C ruling will block innovation now even though we all feel USB-C is pretty ok at the moment.

Before USB we'd prefer to use those heavy RS-232, SCSI and Centronics cables. Remember those? Glad no law got passed back then to set these as the standard.

  • Usual suspects complain about App Store price hikes outside US

Hey Tim Sweeney. It's just about two words: Exchange Rates.

Apple is a US company, so their coin is $$$. In Europe people use €€€ where 1$ = 1 €.
So, a $ 0.99 app should cost € 0.99 in Europe? Not so! In Europe the VAT of about 20% needs to be added. 0.99 + 20% = € 1,19.

It's a miracle? Well no. The epic miracle is that you, CEO of Epic Games don't (want to) understand this. If you happen to be in the market for, for instance, some European-built car then you can expect the prices to have dropped about 20% as well. Will you complain? No? Sounds hypocrite to me.

Yeah, the price increase indeed suck for people like me living in Europe but I do understand it and accept it. I just hope the exchange rates will soon go back to $1.20 or something.

  • AirPods are no longer cool, claim people who can't afford them

Airpods cool? No, they still look like toothbrushes hanging out of your ear. Silly but you're not a moron anymore as many people have similar stuff hanging out of their ears.

But, while on the go I bring my Airpods in my pocket leaving me without tangling cables and without (too much) stress when I need to put in my headphones at some incoming call. I do not walk around with a full blown headphone on my head. That does make you look like kinda sad (besides, it can be pretty dangerous).

So, yes, I do love my Airpods and I use them a lot... for phonecalls, facetime, skype and google talk. For that the Airpod does a good job. For music? Not really. It's not that bad but I do prefer my Beoplay headphones.
