  • How to stop macOS Sequoia sharing your Safari and Spotlight searches with Apple

So the Apple enshittification continues. Soon the whole Apple Privacy schtick will become as ridiculous as Google's 'Don't be Evil' lie.
When Apple partnered with OpenAI/.ChatGPT, that was when I started questioning whether I should trust Apple any more.
I am a bit amused with your comment. Apple has been partnering with Google for years on the search front, for a miniscule fee of $20B per year. Is OpenAI/ChatGPT considered to be far worser than cooperating with Google when it comes to Privacy?

  • Dubious leak details the exact specifications of Apple's foldable iPhone

Remind me, what problem does a foldable solve??

Dubious leak? Yup. Very dubious. And if it is even remotely true it will drain billions in R&D and return a few coins in return.
    A complete waste of time.

None. Zero. Just keeps a few highly paid engineers busy.

The sharp drop of sales in China and only having one form factor. For brand value and sales it must happen. iPhone Thin 17 could be a stepping stone showing some of the new tech.

Oh... you meant what it would solve for those buying one? No idea
If you try to think for few seconds and answer the question "Why did Apple increase the largest display area in the iPhone form factor from 44.1 cm2 in 2013 (iphone 5s screen diagonal - 4 inch) ) to 115.6 cm2 in 2024 (iPhone 16 Pro Max screen diagonal - 6.9 inch)"? by a whopping 162% increase in 11 years, you would know why foldable form factor makes sense, even with the possible compromises that entails.

  • China threatens App Store probe in retaliation for trade tensions

There is an old proverb, 'we live in interesting times'. I would suggest that now it needs to be updated to say 'we live in insane times'.

In 1933 sociopathic criminals took over the Reich Chancellery and ended up murdering millions of people and ultimately causing the death of 12 Million Germans and a destruction of a great many German cities.

Now we have a similar sort of situation whereby the plans of the current US administration is going to unleash God only knows what on the world. Just consider some of the recent moves: Patel (a certifiable lunatic) taking over the FBI; RFK (a dangerous conspiracy theorist) taking over the Department of Health; Musk moving chess pieces around the government like its a board game.

Now the tariffs are going to ruin Apple's most profitable market outside the US.

I don't see how we don't end up with mass chaos and WWIII.
I am from India and I don't have much knowledge on US politics. But one point to make as an outsider - In the last 10 years, under which party's rule in US did the major conflicts in the world occur? There were no major wars in the world during Trump's first presidency. And two major conflicts (Russia Vs Ukraine, major escalation of Gaza conflict) occurred while Joe Biden was president. For the outside world, it does look like Democrats are the ones creating major conflicts in the world, in order to maintain US supremacy in the world order. Trump's presidency was not so bad for world peace, indeed it was damn good when compared to Biden's term. Not sure how Trump's second term would turn out to be in terms of peace in the world, but hoping that it would be similar to his first term. If that happened, then world is better off with Trump as POTUS.

  • Apple Maps still calls it the Gulf of Mexico, and politicians are upset

I find it all very entertaining.
One lot of yanks are currently overloaded with euphoria at the thought of a wrecking ball tearing the establishment down, the other lot are crying in their cups.

and why not call it the Gulf of America? It isn’t as though the left aren’t busy changing place names all the time.
    1) Imagine being such a sensitive little fuckwad as to be upset that a body of water contains the word of another country or a mountain being officially named after the indigenous people who called that for many centuries.

    2) What place names are constantly changing by this left? I certainly haven't noticed this so it would be great if you could back up your comment with recent examples.

PS: I am genuinely curious to know from the Trump supporter on this forum believe that a person can only be born as either male or female. Or, if XX and XY chromosomes are the only way to define people as male or female (as was an issue during the most recent Summer Olympics).
These people are not worth arguing with. People who constantly argue in bad faith, never are.

there is an “ignore” function here, you know. It works wonders.
The problem with using "ignore" button more often is - You become part of a "closed circle", contributing to the divide in the society even more. I try to avoid using the "ignore" button as much as possible, and resist posting responses when the problem of "arguing in bad faith" occurs. To each his own, i guess.

Exactly. I don't understand why this is so much difficult to understand for people posting in tech forums. Apple's CEO's hands are tied and he is doing an excellent job in keeping Apple's interests intact.
