  • Apple paying $113M to settle multi-state investigation into iPhone throttling

I’m still extremely surprised that Apple wasn’t able to overcome the gross lack of understanding that went into the criticism, lawsuit, and final ruling. Apple decided to give users optimal performance when their battery aged, making it less necessity replace the device. The intent and outcome was the polar opposite of what they were accused and convicted of doing. So many people are so stupid.
How is reduced performance "optimal"?  People couldn't tell the batteries in their phones were losing capacity because they still held a charge as long as they did when they were new.  People who picked up a new phone at an Apple store would think the new iphones were that much faster than their current phone without realizing the performance of their phone was being suppressed without their knowledge.  I don't see how people are siding with Apple at all.  What has Apple done for you?  Do you really think Apple cares about you?  They are a trillion dollar business, they'd rather sell a few overpriced devices than sell devices to everyone at much smaller margins.
The bulk of "Support Apple at ANY cost" posters in this forum are Apple "stock holders". So you can understand why many of them post in that way. BUT, there are few posters who take a balanced approach. They take the customer point of view while posting even though they hold many Apple shares. If you read the comments in this forum for a few weeks, you will easily figure this out.

  • Apple's 'Apple Watch Series 6' and iPad 'Time Flies' event will be on September 15

I hope the iPad upgrade is to the iPad gen 7...   That A10 processor is beginning to show its age.   And, Apple needs a consumer priced product to get school kids going in the Apple environment.

My guess would be that - it is iPad air 4. Reason - Apple doesn't usually introduce a "new" design or screen size in any of the budget models (Budget iPad or iPhone SE). They take a old device (same device or next price tier launched 2-3 years ago), replace the old SoC/RAM with newer combination and call it a day, without making ANY other changes to Display/Size/Battery/Camera etc. I am not complaining that it is a bad strategy, a pretty good one imho. It is a best practice. I wish Android OEMs copy this strategy instead of wasting money on trying out 100 different things at the wall to see which one sticks.

That makes sense.   But i hope you're wrong.  The Gen7 REALLY needs an upgrade from the A10.

My guess would be that budget iPad will be updated in another 6 months - around Mar-2021. Apple seems to follow a pattern of 18 months between refresh when it comes to tablets. Not exactly always though, so there is hope for those (like you) who wish that the budget iPad refresh happens sooner than later.

    Embarassing.

When Steve Jobs announced Apple TV it was revolutionary, a game changer, the future of TV. Nowadays with lame full version updates which look more like an excuse than a full update, gens ago hardware and no up-to-date features, poor piece of hardware is not getting the treatment it deserves
You're full of shit. He never called it revolutionary. He called it a hobby until his death. But nice revisionist history there, you needed to dig SJ out of his grave to make up lies. Also, what Apple TV is now, is infinitely better than what Jobs announced, with massively more capability. The Apple TV appstore didn't even exist.

I never said he called it "Revolutionary" dumb ass. Read slowly.

"you needed to dig SJ out of his grave"

Ok Tim Cook announced it. Happy?

    "
Also, what Apple TV is now, is infinitely better than what Jobs announced,"

Same with iPhone, iPad, Mac, software. No shit. How stupid can a single human be to not know upgrades make things better?

    "
The Apple TV appstore didn't even exist. "

Neither did the App Store you idiot.

    @Slurpy

It is always fun reading 2 hard core Apple fans throwing tantrums at each other (without even knowing that the other person is EQUALLY hard core apple fan with a "Defend Apple at ANY cost attitude").

Says the guy who's fine with Putin destroying your democratic process.

No, no, anything against Trump would need solid, irrefutable evidence, verified by courts. When the allegation is made by Trump, there is NO evidence required because he is always a truth-teller, above-law and he can do no wrong ever (almost like a god). That is the stance of people like Spam, so you have to weigh up whether there is ANY use in arguing with such people.
