  • Apple kills long-time event archive on YouTube

Copyright infringement has gotten so rampant, when a proper claim is enforced, people react as if that's controversial.

  • Time Machine backups causing issues for some Apple Silicon Mac users

What the fuck are you people blathering about?

I'm not exactly known for being an Apple cheerleader here, but you're out of your minds.

Time Machine is the best backup solution I've ever used on ANY platform.  Period.  The only thing it's missing is an easy offsite solution.  Everything else about it is perfect.

I don't give a flying fuck if a backup solution is 'efficient'.  I care that it backs up data and makes it easily retrievable.  Time Machine does that better than anything else out there at any price.

    Apple got this one right.
Good for you!   Not everyone's been so lucky.
On my previous machine, the combination of new OS + old hardware + File Vault made Time Machine crawl, (also iPhone backups - one took 35 hours) until I turned off FV.
Been great for years.  Until Monterey 12.1, not so much.

  • Select 2013 and 2014 MacBook Air, Pro models to be declared vintage and obsolete in April

No need to refer to "internal documents." This article makes Apple's vintage and obsolete policies very clear. I can look at a calendar, do simple math & I know when my hardware will go out of support. But, "internal documents" adds some level of intrigue, I guess.

  • The top malware threat for macOS infects one in 10 users

There are common instructions for safe computer usage.  Those should include, "Never install or update software in response to a prompt."
Everyone on this page can probably tell good prompts from bad, but most people can't.  Prompts for software installation are risky.  They should be abandoned in favor of a more secure process.

  • If you have an iPhone X, should you upgrade to the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max?

Anyone who bought a new iPhone last year spent plenty on it. Get your money's worth and get at least another year out of it! I'm two and a half years into my SE and I'm hoping to get at least fiive years out of it. $100 for each year of use.
