  • Siri could recognize user's voice patterns for identification in future iPhone or iPad

I find Siri extremely helpful and around 98% accuracy.  That said, there’s plenty of room for improvement and I feel Apple should be a leader in this space.  I do appreciate the amount of effort involved, as Siri is available on more languages than the other assistants.
I use Siri a lot for my smart home functions, texting, calling, weather, timers, measurement conversion, basic references, sports queries, music control and Apple TV use.

With the deployment of silicon containing the Neural cores (A11 chips and up), I expect Siri to gain major improvements in processing.  In the near future, I don’t see why Siri couldn’t be processed at the device level.

  • Unsurprisingly, the 2019 iPhones are expected to be as waterproof as the iPhone XR

The death of 3D Touch is questionable, touch based inputs have few options for advanced uses.  Other than gesture, touch location and time are the only metrics, outside of hardware options like a stylus.  There’s a reason that the mouse has evolved into a device with multiple buttons, wheels and macros.  As our mobile devices do more with greater complexity, It’s hard to believe Apple would throw away tech that is useful and expansive. I personally like 3D Touch, but I feel Apple missed out on an opportunity to advance their GUI.  Would it be so hard to pioneer a new interface, as a dual option?  As a millennial (just barely) I find the standard grid of apps to be archaic and at times counterproductive. These devices are capable of more than just a polite nod to 90’s interfaces.

  • Forensics firm urges police not to look at screens of iPhones with Face ID

A few years ago, I thought it would be neat to have a code/biometric that opened an alternative phone instance that had some basic pictures apps and such, enough to look real.   Not sure how Face ID could do this, as there’s less customization versus multiple fingerprints and passcodes.

I read the Bloomberg report and it seems that evidence is already there that is being done.  Now the government is saying the report is inaccurate?  Come on, man.

The article is mostly right, but it is made to look like China is doing the spying when in reality it is someone else.

Who do we know that has a history of installing spy chips on computers? Hint: Snowden told us.
you're exactly right.  Now Apple is saying that none of this is happening.  Just me being a cynic here but I think Apple is doing this so that they don't ruffle the feathers of their bread and butter manufacturing in China.  If they angered the Chinese with allegations like this they'd be in a world of hurt.  I really don't know who to believe.

I question this logic regarding angering China, as it relates to manufacturing.  Apple could switch manufacturing to South Korea if it were in trouble, not seamless, but easy enough with Korean component manufacturers.  Additionally, Apple has other international assembly partners in Brazil, and India.  Apple could manufacturer in the US if they wanted, although difficult.  These days, Apple components are manufactured in many different countries, and globally there is a greater diversity of suppliers.  Staying in China solely for the component suppliers is no longer accurate, more for their experienced contract manufacturers and cheap labor.  Tim Cook once managed Apple’s supply chain, I guarantee you Apple has emergency contingency plans.

    Your thoughts?

  • Apple may be fighting saturated smartphone market in US, but iPad still has room for growt...

This article is incomplete by not accounting for Apples other business units encompassing; services, wearables, HomePods, AppleTV, future Augmented reality product and Transportation as a service(TAAS).  For some reason Pew doesn’t want to look at Apple as a platform of devices and services, wonder why......

Additionally, many people lease their phones, getting a new device every 12 to 24 months.  These longer lasting devices filter down to lower economic demographics and make them accessible.  If Apple wanted to turbocharge iPad sales, they could offer the same leasing program as the phones.

Regarding mouse capability, that’s a mixed bag as only some people truly need such functionality.  I use a HP elite book for work and never use the touchscreen functionality, but accidentally touch spreadsheets a lot, causes problems.

I understand my case is specific but it highlights one fact, moving between touch controls, keyboard, and mouse is awkward.

Apple will most likely skip this confusing dual interface, by jumping straight into augmented technology.  If the glasses know where you’re looking, and creates virtual screens and dynamic GUIs as needed, the mouse becomes null.

    There’s always the MacBook...
