  • Review: The new August is the best Wi-Fi connected HomeKit smart lock around

    f5b said:
It's too expensive, to begin with. The story doesn't even mention how good of a lock it is. I buy a lock primarily as a lock; HomeKit functionality is second. There's been many videos posted on how easy it is to bypass these electronic locks. I'd like to know how someone like the "lockpickinglawyer" would handle these locks.
The August does not change the mechanical components of your existing lock. The only part that is replaced is the interior knob. So as far as mechanical lock-picking, there should be no difference.

  • YouTube TV hikes monthly subscription price to $65

You might as well just pay for cable at this point. You can probably get a promotional rate from the cable company for less than this.
While $65 is close to the cable companies' advertised introductory prices, YouTube TV is less expensive.

The cable company will charge set top box fees, DVR fees, broadcast stations fees, regional sports network fees, etc. After that, those intro prices end up being $85 to $100.

  • Review: Logitech's Circle View is the HomeKit camera we needed

I don't really see real improvements in the new version.

Also, I'm not a huge fan of the black color, as it stands out on most interiors. Can't they at least give us an option for a white one?

  • Amazon maintains massive lead over Apple in US smart speaker market

Most people could care less if it is audiophile grade. If they want to keep the Homepod product line, they need to improve Siri and have a version with a sub-$200 price point. They could still keep the existing Homepod as a "pro" model.

  • Apple removes 'not legal' Hong Kong police monitoring app

This is a disappointing move by Apple.

However, it is even more concerning that the State Department has been silent on the issue. It's certainly a violation of the  "one country, two systems" principal that China and the UK agreed to.
