History will record iPhone X as a breakthrough in consumer tech. It has changed the world forever. The notch alone is now a universal benefit, even for Android.
OK, I'll bite.  Why is the notch alone a universal benefit outside of being a marketing tool?  If Apple would have limited the cutouts around the FaceID module use to displaying time, signal strength, battery strength, etc. with a black background there would be no "notch" so FaceID can't be the underlying benefit.  What universal utility is gained solely by expanding the app display area to two small ears at the top of the screen?

I'm not against the notch, but it would seem to be neutral at best and even distracting under certain uses like watching a video.
It's all marketing in my opinion. The notch helps the X be easily recognizable as Apple's most expensive phone ever, and users subconsciously want people to know they can afford Apple's most expensive phone ever, even if they dislike and complain about it.

No Apple Care+ and no case? What were you thinking?
After waiting for the (product) RED iP8+, to compare with the iPX, I chose a silver iPX with RED silicone cover.
I really liked the looks of the (product) RED phone, but after side-by-side use comparison, I chose the X for the reason you stated - iP8+ seems dated in comparison.
I agree with your advice; if people can wait for the next cycle, do it, but if you need a phone now take the X.
After just a couple of days of use, I’m totally adjusted to the be gestures and have no problems toggling between the X and my old SE.
X is great. Totally satisfied. Best ever.
I know lol bad idea. I never once dropped my iPhone 7 Plus after a full year, so I thought I’d be fine. Was gonna get Applecare+ but I spaced it.

    Glad you like it man!

Does this mean that the other Appleinsider reviews were not honest? Regarding the wooden wireless charger, if you're going to drop the iPhone into such a precise position then it may as well not be wireless and have a little lightning  dock built in. Regarding talking about the glass back and it sliding off your leg, are we all a nation of buffoons when it comes to phones? And finally, who in their right mind turns up their phone volume to drown out ambient noise instead of using headphone, or sealed earbuds.
    1. Title is for YouTube audience.
    2. It’s a perfect stand for the iPhone X and Face ID.
    3. It’s not a big deal but it’s been extremely annoying to me.
    4. Anyone who wants to watch a quick video or show something to a group of friends.

  • Samsung's Galaxy S9 phones inch out iPhone X for top Consumer Reports ranking

That Samsung's biometric security options for retina scan and facial recognition continue to get a pass says all that you need to know about CR.
The most interesting thing is that you can't use Samsung Pay with the S9's new Intelligent Scan biometric authentication system, which combines both Face Recognition and Iris Scanning for more reliable unlocking.

It's still only available for use with Iris scanning and Fingerprint scanning.

This shows that Samsung doesn't fully trust the new feature, even though they've had years to fix any security issues with both Face Recognition and Iris Scanning.

Apple, on the other hand, jumped right into their brand new Face ID feature with full confidence, allowing users to use Face ID for pretty much everything, including iPhone Unlock, Apple Pay, iTunes & App Store, Safari Autofill and third-party apps that support it.

Some of those third-party apps hold extremely sensitive information, like Bank of America, PayPal and Credit Karma.

S9 are now 50% off at verizon, Apple can you match that? Maybe not so i will stick w my X
    There's a reason it's 50% off.

The devices that are quickest to go on sale are usually the ones that aren't selling as well as they should be.

    That's why Apple's AirPods still cost $159.
