Testing thermal throttling and performance in the 2018 i7 Mac mini
larz2112 said:Great info and article. It's nice to see that the new Mac mini does a decent job of managing the CPU performance and throttling. Did the fan get noisy during this testing? I ask because I use my Mac for music production, and a noisy Mac mini would not be welcome when recording vocals.
But of course, it's subjective. You may think it's loud. -
Blind comparison of photography on the iPhone XR versus Google Pixel 3 XL
MacMan1993 said:How come all the photos, except the one with the guy and his dark jacket, are all three feet nearer when taken with the Google phone? Hardly a fair like-for-like comparision, the shots are different. All the images looked good, some better than others. 50-50 with me, but it's great that we have such tech in small packages.
The good: Background compression looks really nice since it forces you to stand further back.
The bad: You can't take wide portrait photos. -
2018 iPad Pro: everything you need to know
Shane_H said:"This means users can connect an external 5K display, extra storage or even charge their iPhone with a USB-C to Lightning cable." Define extra storage? I cannot find anything about that on Apples Site. Looks like it can see the same external devices as before, Like cameras, keyboards and such. USB-C Hard drives and Flash drives are not mentioned.
Not sure who added the external storage bit. -

Review: The 2018 i7 15-inch MacBook Pro is much more than a spec bump
bkkcanuck said:It would be interesting to note if there is much of a real world difference between the 2.2 and 2.6 model one since there really is only a $100 difference between similarly optioned models. ($300 between 2.6 and i9).From our testing: 4 run average of Cinebench R15 CPU test back-to-back:Base: 991
Mid: 1001
i9: 1011
Clock speed averages for each under load after heating up and stabilizing:
Base: 3.05Ghz
Mid: 3.1Ghz
i9: 3.15Ghz
