iOS 12 now on 75 percent of compatible devices, hit mark faster than iOS 11
Wow! I didn't think my comment was a "tangent". Uncalled for comment from you. If Apple were not using "tactics" to edge people towards updating, they would turn off automatic updates by default and allow us to enable it by choice. Relax dude, this is a conversation not a battle.groundlkrupp said:MKMc said:I was not in a particular hurry to upgrade to iOS12. I was busy and didn't really care either way - but the nagging tactics that Apple employs and the infuriating tactic of making me punch in my pin every time I dismissed a nag to update wore me down and eventually I just did it for peace sake. So I wonder how many others did the same thing. Nagging users to death until they upgrade can hardly be counted as enthusiastic adoption. -

Prices and user experience drive smartphone OS switching, poll suggests
In my country, Apple doesn't spend anywhere near as much on advertising and promotion as Samsung. They just don't seem to care. And on top of that, most Cell phone shops you go into will actively try and put you off iPhones in favour of Samsung devices because they obviously get a bigger kick-back for every Samsung device they flog. The BS I've heard sales people talk about iPhone to gullible and uninformed consumers is actually criminal. -
Going all-in on USB-C with Apple's ecosystem? That's impossible -- for now
Everyones needs are different. I really enjoy the super-portability of the new 13" MBP for when I am traveling - contrary to the nay-says - thin and light really matters to me; and there really isn't that much more in the way of externals that I need to lug around. In my case, my old MacBook Pro required a Mini Display to VGA adaptor, and a USB hub (due to the limitation of only two USB ports. My new MacBook Pro requires a USB-C to VGA adaptor and a USB-C to USB hub for my peripherals. So actually - no difference to the weight of my carry-bag and no extra adaptors. Of course if I need a DVD - then I have to include my external DVD drive - but that requirement is almost never these days. -
New $329 iPad includes support for the Apple Pencil, A10 Fusion processor
I was really hoping that Apple was going to introduce a college / school grade iMac at a very affordable price. It's all very well for those living in first world countries with strong currencies; but for me, as an educator in South Africa - it is very sad to see Apple slip off the face of education due purely to price. Colleges just cannot justify the price of Apple computers and so gradually crappy Windows all-in-ones are replacing ageing iMacs. It's sad to see. I am one of a dying breed of Apple advocates in mainstream college education. The rest are switching to windows. I have argued until I'm blue in the face about the value of Mac's etc... - but at the end of the day, it's hard to convince a bean-counter that a R22 000.00 iMac is better than a windows PC half the price. Apple needs to be more aggressive with hardware pricing for education.
