Apple told EU regulators it has three browsers, all called Safari
The DMA is a bunch of BS. Apple should send a message to every customer they know about in the EU explaining the situation, stating that they will stop doing business in the EU, and follow through with that if the DMA isn't repealed. It's in their long-term interest, as compliance will mean giving up their competitive advantage and that will kill any company after a while. -
Apple accused of avoiding paying UK $700 million in taxes
I cannot understand the mentality of TaxWatch and organizations like it. As an accountant myself, the standard has always been clear: help your client pay the minimum taxes possible without doing anything illegal. That doesn't stop being important for bigger companies. None of us go into business or get a job thinking "oh boy, I can't wait to donate as much of the money I make as possible to the government, who will do much more important things with it than I would!" -
Dozens of stalking victims join AirTag class action suit against Apple
It'll go nowhere, for good reason. I don't lack empathy for victims, I'm just realistic - there's better tech out there for stalkers so you actually hope your stalker tries to use an AirTag instead. You're more likely to find out someone is tracking you with an AirTag than with many other devices, none of which can possibly be removed from the market anyways. People sue Apple because they have deep pockets and are highly visible, but that doesn't mean the case has any merit. -
16GB vs. 32GB -- Maximize a Mac's performance by choosing the right amount of memory
If a human did write this article, it might include more helpful advice such as waiting to purchase a Mac from the previous generation when they go on sale. I am typing this on an M1 Max 14" MBP with 64GB RAM and 2TB SSD. Because I just bought it a month or so ago, I spent $1400 less than original MSRP and got Applecare+ for an additional $100. As with iPhones, higher amounts of storage cost a lot as upgrades when you buy new from Apple, but they don't increase price much when buying a slightly older or used machine. I fully expect to get another 8-10 years of solid use from this MBP, thanks in part to the much higher specs than I could have afforded if I bought the latest generation directly from Apple. -
Here's why you don't put an AirTag on your dog's collar
Every site sharing this article just regurgitates the FUD and/or adds more of their own.To sum up the actual point: Don't attach an AirTag to your dog in an insecure manner. Know the risks and mitigate them with a better collar mount, or get a GPS collar if you've got several dogs and you know they will eat the AirTag. A small risk of the dog being injured by eating the AirTag vs. the dog starving to death or being hit by a car because it got out is worth it to most dog owners.
