  • Intel has a faster processor than M2 Max, but at what cost?

Users who want this kind of performance don't really care that much about having to plug in their laptop. They are not going do their expert magic at Star Bucks. Instead they might work at home or at a co-working space where outlets aren't exactly an issue.

Yes, it all might be less elegant than a Mac, but the raw power offered here for the dollars paid is much better value than an M2 Max.

  • 2023 HomePod review roundup: similar sound, same price

It is a weird product for sure. I have the first gen. Sound quality is nice but not great, Siri is incredibly stupid and useless, and I can’t make Siri use Spotify after all these years.
There’s no battery in it so it can’t be temporarily disconnected.

I expected a different product, not a revised one that clearly has been redesigned for cost cutting reasons.

  • New HomePod vs 2018 HomePod - compared

Seems to be a Tim Cook cost-cutting relaunch.
Still, the cord is fixed to the HomePod instead of being able to detach it.
Still, it has no battery. Still, Siri does not work with Spotify. And still, the top Siri controls are awkward.

  • Apple resurrects full-size HomePod with updated acoustics

Still using the original HomePod, I’m kinda fed up with the lack of Siri integration with Spotify. Whoever’s fault it is I don’t care, but it’s terrible to have a device that puts Siri front and center yet is completely useless with one of the largest music services out there.
I will go for Sonos next time. Won’t have Siri but at least seems to strive for more compatibility.

  • BeOS lives on, in the new Haiku OS Beta 4

Obviously if Apple would have adapted BeOS, it wouldn't look anything like what Haiku looks like today on a code-level.
macOS and iPadOS are quite old by now, which is why Google's Fuchsia is so interesting: they started from scratch with modern concepts, replacing Android.
I wonder if Apple at some point feels the need to do the same with their operating systems.
