  • Security researcher hands Apple details of Keychain bug, calls for explanation regarding l...

At this point, Apple just wants MacOS to die. If it is some critical security bug that does it, that's fine by Apple.
    That makes no sense.

If Apple wants to kill macOS they can stop selling Macs, and just take the $25 billion revenue hit—nearly the size of a Fortune 100 company btw—and skip the part where they shoot themselves in the foot by trashing their reputation.

But I get it... Mr. Cook hates the Mac and wants to force you to use an iPad. *eyeroll*

  • 'Worst of the bad news' is behind Apple when it comes to iPhone sales

The worst of the bad news was that we have reached peak iPhone sales. Is that really behind Apple now?
iPhone unit sales have been flat for years. That might have a little something to do with why Apple created a new super-premium tier.

With the market for high-end smartphones becoming saturated, and upgrades cycles lengthening, higher-priced phones enable them to continue growing revenue. Apple saw this coming 5+ years ago.

  • Intel officials believe that ARM Macs could come as soon as 2020

I think you’re on the right track. I don’t believe that MacOS is transitioning to ARM. I think it’s more likely that they’ll release iOS-based “Macs” in the future.

Ditching Intel doesn’t make a lot of sense.  It’s not in the customer’s best interest to lose compatibility with Windows. Moving to Intel saved the Mac, not because of performance but because of compatibility.  I think it would be very foolish of Apple to lose that advantage across the entire product line.

iOS Macs? Makes no sense whatsoever.

iOS has a touch-based UI, and is optimized for using your fingers to interact with a touch-sensitive display.

MacOS is optimized for a mouse/keyboard UI.

When Apple brings ARM to Macs, rest assured it will run MacOS.

  • Apple's latest iPhone XS & XR ad 'Bokeh'd' plays with social downsides of Depth Control

Apple is inadvertently opening up a slippery-slope with this Bo-keh Ad. It shows that 'Apple Owners' are inept at operating their iPhone Camera... by admitting to making mistakes, and producing unintended negative-results. Subtle, but scary all at once.
How is the “Apple Owner” inept at operating her iPhone camera? She demonstrates complete mastery of the depth control feature lol. And scary? How so? Did we watch the same spot?

btw, that was no mistake, she obviously bokeh-ed Jacob on purpose, even though she assures her friend, somewhat unconvincingly, that it was completely unintentional.

  • Mac desktop shootout -- $3500 iMac 5K versus $1700 Mac mini

Apple is not serious about the mac mini and after 4 years of nothing it was a poor effort in the updated version.
I was hoping for a larger size, and with that better cooling so that it will have a decent dedicated graphics, and also replaceable SSD.
As far as I'm concerned, since I don't favour built-in screens, iMacs are a waste.
Just as you don’t favor built in screens, some don’t favor built in SSD or dedicated graphics chips.

Thunderbolt 3 allows upgrade flexibility over the 5-10 year life of the 2018 mini for both GPU and SSD, and of course high-bandwidth connection of many other peripherals as well. Four TB3 ports and a optional $100 10Gb Ethernet port is evidence of Apple’s seriousness wrt the mini, notwithstanding your characterization of it as “a poor effort”.

It may may not be your perfect machine or meet your wants/needs, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t an excellent choice for many others—maybe most—who don’t require a Mac with a 5K screen. But the entry level iMac 5K is a steal at $1,799 imo, if you do want a 5K monitor.
