  • Apple buys machine learning AR firm specializing in mixed realities

Apple please design a phone that is easier to hold, and has a battery which last 24 hour, I don't care about making a sci-fi movie with mine.
Get a battery case for your 5-10% edge case requirements; most users end the day with plenty of battery remaining.

Apple won’t—and shouldn’t—be making a thicker, heavier, more expensive iPhone just because a few people play on their phone all day.

  • Consumer Reports finds iPhone XS and XS Max last hours longer than iPhone X, contradicts p...

Consumer Reports knocked Apple for the included charging brick, noting it took 210 minutes, or twice as long, to charge the iPhone XS Max compared to the Samsung Note 9. Apple could easily remedy the situation by including a USB-C fast charger in the box, something AppleInsiderhas mentioned repeatedly in our iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max reviews, though the company is unlikely to do so.

I almost never use the 5W chargers. The 12W iPad charger works much better, nearly as well as the USB-C charger, while being a lot cheaper as well. They should've included those at the very least for their $1000+ phones, it's pretty absurd to hobble charging so much.
Nah, I think they should stop including any if anything, and let people buy what they need rather than creat more e-waste.
Which means more people buying garbage 3rd party chargers at gas stations that last a few months or burn their house down or electrocute them, etc.

For most people it simply doesn’t matter. Charging overnight is the common practice. If you need fast charging then it should cost extra rather than cost everyone.
What do you think the difference in BOM price for the two chargers is?
I don’t think it’s about BOM cost at all. It’s an environmental issue. 30 additional grams multiplied by 100+ million iPhones is millions of extra kilos of plastic and metal finding its way into landfills. Unless you sleep less than 2 or 3 hours per night, your iPhone will be charged when you wake up regardless.

  • Availability shrinking for LG UltraFine 5K Display at Apple Stores

I really hope they release their own monitor again. The old ones were great when they came out. Just give me the slim iMac design and size and I'm happy. While you're at it, build in an Apple TV, so it can function standalone and I can just airplay to it from an iPhone or iPad. Not asking for much seemingly..
Ya know, that's not an awful idea. If Apple makes a display (something of an *if* because i'm not sure there is much in the way off profit in there - partnering with someone else seems sufficient for their current strategy) adding an internal AppleTV is nearly trivial. It is simple as adding the chip. In theory it needs a network connection, but maybe skip the ethernet part.
There is no if, Apple said last year they were going to be returning to the display business with their own monitors—as mentioned in the article. I can’t imagine it will  have a built in AppleTV, but I’d bet money it will have a Thunderbolt 3 hub, and be capable of supplying USB-PD power supply sufficient for MBP (and the new mini as well, assuming it no longer has an internal power supply).

  • Review: The iPhone XS Max is what Apple has always promised the iPhone could be

    2017 Macbook Pro 13" has only 4GB LPDDR3 RAM.
No, it has 8GB. Even the $1,099 iMac, the $999 MacBook Air and the $599 Mac mini also have 8GB RAM. The only Mac available with 4GB is the $499 mini.

  • iPhone XS, XS Max have new power chip designed by Apple, extra antenna band

    “You are holding it wrong.”

Apple has done a good job with antennas since the iPhone 4.
Interestingly, the real Jobs quote has none of the corporate arrogance or user-blaming of the bastardized meme-quote.

Jobs actually acknowledged the issue and suggested a way to prevent any issues. What he really said was “just avoid holding it in that way”.
Mmm. Slightly better, but not by much.
Disagree. I think there’s a big difference.  Also, other phones had/have the same issue, i.e. certain grips affecting antenna performance.
