No, Apple is not making better products because Jony Ive left
OutdoorAppDeveloper said:The 2016 MacBook Pro is the poster child for function following form. Design had too much power within Apple at that time. It is why we saw the removal of vital features that the pros relied upon ripped out of the product for no reason anyone could clearly state. Johnny Ive should shoulder much of the blame since he lead the division when the product was designed. Johnny likes nice clean shapes without any holes for silly things like HDMI, a SD card slot, ethernet plug or heaven forbid, headphone jacks. He currently works for Ferrari and is trying to figure out how to get rid of those pesky doors. -

thadgarrison said:I wish Apple would make better software products with Ive gone. It was insane that someone like Ive was ever given control over software design. He is an industrial designer, a completely different field. He managed in a short time to seriously damage Apple’s legacy of human-centered design, leading the firm down a path of precious prettiness over function. It really saddens me to see that nobody has been #brave enough to set it back on course. The grotesque redesign of macOS alone is filled with many little pockets of shameful UX. The wrongheaded Safari tab redesign shows a company without a strong editorial eye overseeing software design. The graphic designers now have the keys to the kingdom and this does not bode well for the usability of Apple’s products.
Also, don’t make the mistake of thinking that UX and graphic design are the same thing. UX is it’s own thing. -

Apple CEO Tim Cook pens letter in remembrance of Steve Jobs

He keeps pressing and perfecting until he gets what he envisioned. People like this make the world a better place whether or not we like or admire them. Settling is never something a great leader does.
He also put together and mentored an incredible team to carry on without him, which in itself is impossible for all but a few to do.I keep joking that Elon is an alien because, I don’t know how he does all he does. Or how he knows all he knows. So much power and cross discipline knowledge all in one head. I’m not sure there’s anyone else out there like him.
So, dude is an alien! You heard it here first. ߘt;/div>
do you all really believe this?Musk is the worst kind of mountebank. he shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence (nor paragraph) with Steve. Elon is a tragedy. if the USA woudn't bail him out here and there (let it be not just money) he'd be nowhere. unlike Steve, he sells people lies (like Tesla). also has no taste. I really dunno if I should cry or laugh at you guys..
Putting all that aside, what’s the lie about Tesla? Tesla is kicking ass and taking names! They dominate the EV industry and, amazingly, continue to put more distance between them and traditional ICE vehicle makers who are moving to EVs (admittedly not of their own will in some cases) and new EV makers. Tesla offers superior electric motors, superior battery tech, superior AI (you didn’t watch AI Day did you) and they utilize gigantic presses to form the metal chassis that no other auto maker has ever used. Their parts count is plummeting, which will reduce integration and assembly costs, reduce in-process testing, and increases the number of vehicles that can be manufactured per hour. It’s all absolutely incredible. So, I don’t know what you’ve been reading, but it’s time to get your head out from under that rock and see what happening. Tesla will dominate regardless of subsidies. It’s going to be a bloodbath and it’ll be fun to watch.
And a quick nod to SpaceX, which now dominates orbital launch! This company that was dismissed as a sideshow a decade ago now has Governments the world over scrambling to figure out what their next steps are going to be because SpaceX is so far ahead. Don’t tell me there’s nothing to see here.
