Apple's iPhone unaffected by chip shortage hitting rivals

Jony Ive bringing his design talents to Ferrari & Exor
For Ferrari’s sake, I hope Jony is enthused enough to show up at meetings and provide real design support, as he “reportedly” wasn’t doing his last couple of years at Apple.
it just seems that when Steve Jobs died Jony lost all motivation to carry on and was unable to lead his design team effectively. It’s a shame. But I think the ID team is in good hands now. -
'Foundation' could take 70 episodes or more to tell the whole story
bedmison said:This is not a new concept in TV storytellings, just more accepted now. Babylon 5 did this 30 years ago.
What sucked was that the station that aired the show in Cleveland, close to where I lived at the time, wasn’t getting advertising dollars due to low viewership during the last couple of seasons. Unbelievably, they ran first run episodes at 2 in the morning. I stayed up to watch.

Catch the series premiere of 'Foundation,' next episode of 'Ted Lasso' early
I am filled with tremendous excitement and trepidation as the hours wind down to Foundation. Foundation is the biggest sci-fi book-to-screen event since the first Dune movie in 1984, which, by the way, scarred me for life. Such a great cast, all squandered by David Lynch. To say I left the theater hating it doesn’t fully describe my contempt for the ruination of such an exquisite and rich portrayal of humanity dealing with wild yet constrained technological development. If only Ridley Scott has been allowed to direct, it would have been a very different film. Poor Frank Herbert.
But hope springs eternal and I very much look forward to the first episode of Foundation. Let us hope Issac Asimov remains unturned in his grave after tonight. 🖖 -
How the Apple TV+ adaptation of 'Foundation' differs from its source
OctoMonkey said:FileMakerFeller said:OctoMonkey said:I do have high hopes for this, but given contemporary efforts in the genre, I will remain skeptical until the product sways me (or I give up on it).
Not having read the book might be an advantage. Too often the film so differs from the source material that fans of the original (novel/cartoon/video game/comic/whatever) end up hating the movie. I try to be fairly open minded (which goes against the general perception people have of me) when watching movies. I enjoyed the 1984 Lynch "Dune" even though it was (in some ways) an abomination... enjoyed it enough to buy the 4K which was just released. I enjoyed the "Avatar" movie even if it paled compared to the cartoon. Heck, I even like what is considered by many to be one of the worst movies of all time - "Alone in the Dark" (and I did enjoy the game back in the day). I will keep an open mind to this adaptation too, but approach with a skeptical eye.
Here’s the real downer. When we watched it again with subtitles we realized that we didn’t really miss much with the dialogue to begin with. As high concept as it was, Tenet was a poorly scripted and edited movie.
