  • iPhone demand is falling, claims component supplier Skyworks

If you invest in tech and base your decisions on an executive at Skyworks you would have lost all your money, Apple suppliers are that last reference point you should look at.

There is choice in the marketplace despite what the EU/DOJ says, if Apple doesn't please you there is a fork in the road leading to the Windows and Android world. By the way Wolflow Microsoft hasn't gotten trackpads/waking up from sleep or power usage/management or even memory allocation right yet and in the Android world how's fingerprint and face-id actually working.

https://www.wired.com/story/metalenz-polar-id-first-look/  Notice how the Wired is all juiced up about something still in the laboratory? Android a Facsimile phone on so many levels and they still don't have LiDAR which every iPhone and all iPad Pro's have had for nearly five years.
A “facsimile” phone?  What?  I’m reminded of Sharp fax machines from 1985 LOL.  But, your comment about Lidar on “every” iphone for years may not be true.  Apple’s own comparison page shows the Pro models have it but not the regular models.

  • iPhone 15 Pro is unexpectedly the sales champion of spring 2024

And yet you can find articles and youtube videos excited about the iphone 15 base models being the biggest upgrade in years …. Go figure…

  • (PRODUCT)RED is getting our hopes up for a red iPhone 15

To everyone who is about to say that colors don’t matter and every phone ever made should be in black because “everybody” uses cases - well,  many people use clear cases, pouch cases or enjoy the feel of the phone without any case at all. Thankfully, Apple and others offer phones besides just black.

Would love to see a device with camera lenses built in the chassis instead on top of it.
This would make space for a decent battery capacity as well.
Hah, wouldn't we all? Since I migrated to iPhone photography from the world of full-frame pro digital cameras and lenses, I find the complaints about the camera bumps on iPhone to be pretty amusing. Photographically speaking, the tools at your disposal in an IPhone, especially the Pro models, compared to the total space within the phone allotted for them is nothing sort of a technological miracle. OR... forget pro camera equipment and pick your favorite "tiny" mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. Now find three fixed focal length lenses for that camera: 13mm, 24mm and 120mm. Check out the size and total weight of those lenses, because that's what you've got at the back of an iPhone Pro Max. I have no doubt that some day the iPhone lenses will be integrated within the chassis again, no bump. And who knows, it may be a single lens where any focal length can be generated via AI with no loss in image quality. But my guess is that we're still at least a few years away from that.
You prefer using a cellphone for photography instead of full frame “pro” equipment?? wow….can’t see myself getting away from real camera equipment, not happening.

    Let’s rearrange the deck chairs.
I actually non ironically would like a deck chair rearranged. My father has an old iPhone from the era of Thin. I happened to pick it up the other day and was struck by how nice it is to hold a thin and light phone. So maybe it’s time to create an iPhone Air whose main feature is thin and light.
They just tried that with iphone mini.  It was thin and very light.  But sales were poor and it is no more
