  • Apple considers $2B Apple TV+ streaming rights grab for Formula 1

F1 is available now as it’s own streaming service.  I’ve considered getting it. So this “deal” could mean that eventually the only place to get F1 would be on Apple ??    Not sure i like that.

  • iPhone 15 Pro review: Best balance of performance to price yet in an iPhone

Does anybody think the yearly cadence of new phones is too fast?  Have we reached a point where it seems things are not properly tested.  Like the “Finewoven” cases and the ability to transfer old iphone to new one, without stuck new phone. Let’s not mention the overheating issues in the pro models.   These are all things that should be tested in a QA environment over a period of time and not rushed.  Tim Cook,  any thoughts?  I also just heard there are carplay issues unless you are lucky enough to have latest car that has usb-c and not have to use usb-a to usb-c cable.  Was carplay not tested? The yearly release of new phones is really about “wall street” right?  As a publicly traded company Apple has to answer to “wall street”.  The tail is wagging the dog as the saying goes. My point is that technology should not be rushed.

  • Microsoft entered negotiations to sell Bing to Apple in 2020

Why would microsoft spend so much time and money making Bing just to sell it to somebody else??   Bing is a huge strategic investment for Microsoft and “intellectual property”.  Plus it integrates with the Edge browser baked into every new windows pc you will see.

If Apple really wanted to be involved with search ,  why can’t they build their own?  Clearly Apple would be more than decade behind but they have tons of money to throw at it, right? Wouldn’t they have already started work by now?

Bing is the only real competitor to Google,  hard to imagine giving away the house so to speak.

Just a test to see if no comments are a result of AI or a lack of interest in yet another overpriced phone. Frankly, I'm so sick and tired of iOS and the lack of a competitive landscape in phones and phone OS's, I could care less about this amazing new product.
You seem pretty upset.   But, there is competition.  You can go use Android phones if you want, there are plenty of them out there.  The top Androids have great hardware, even if people on this forum refuse to agree or think they are inferior because some of those people are loyal to anything Apple..
It's nothing to do with loyalty, Apple's products are objectively better in nearly every metric: better cameras, chips, display, design, software performance, security, reliability, software support, resale value. All Android devices have ever offered is occasionally a better camera, more software options but mainly a lower price.

Smartphones are just becoming a mature product category like Macs. They don't break much, don't need upgraded much and don't really need many new features.

The only remaining hardware component that can get a meaningful upgrade is the battery. If they can get a solid state battery with <10 minute charging, it will change the whole form factor and weight. Other than this, there's not really anything left to do. iPhone 16, 17, 18, 19, 20... will look almost identical. The performance gains will be to service gaming so will continue to drive sales for a while there.

The focus will shift to AR soon, it will start slowly because people have higher expectations now but in a few years, it will be more widely used.
We agree to disagree and that’s okay.  Loyalty is the reason Apple was able to grow over the years and gather resources to make iphones “objectively” better as you say.  Loyalty is those customers waiting for stores to open to get the new iphones, despite it being a “mature product category” as you say. I totally agree smartphones are a mature product.  Loyalty is many of us, including myself, who would rather use a macbook despite Microsoft windows owning about 90 percent of business market.  Loyalty is what makes a small company grow and become great.  Without loyalty, Apple would be a much smaller company then it is today.

It is perceived that iphone has the best security.    I have an Android tablet and it’s fantastic and fun to use.  It’s a change of pace from Apple’s ecosystem.   But i have no really sensitive information on there or do banking or online shopping transactions with it.  To me, Apple’s ipads are nothing more than huge iphones. That does not interest me.  It would be cool if Apple goes in different direction with them and makes them truly different.
